No SC II beta before 2009

beta, blizzcon, starcraft

Just a few minutes ago in the last press conference that is related to StarCraft II here at the BlizzCon 2008 in Anaheim, Blizzard's Chris Sigaty denied all rumours about a StarCraft II beta or even a StarCraft II release until the end of 2008.

Sigaty clarified that he expects to see a first official StarCraft II beta version in early 2009. Furthermore he revealed that StarCraft II has reached the Alpha version status; Blizzard offices in Paris, Anaheim and Seoul are running this version for testing purposes so that all Blizzard employees are able to contribute to the development with feedback.

After it was just yesterday announced that the game will be published in three parts, parts of the community called Blizzard exploitive. Sigaty pointed out that this is definitively not Blizzard's goals. The company will release information in the following days about prizes for the games.
