PDL reaches playoffs and playdowns

The initial league-season of Prime Defending League has ended. As Internationa- MYM and Sweden SK drew in their match on Sunday, the kept their respective 1st and 2nd place in the standings, thus qualifying directly to the PDL Finals.

Which teams that will be joining them in the Winner Bracket semi-finals is to be determined in the coming weeks. Denmark Plus46, fnatic, TeG and France Serious Gaming are in the mix for a podium-position, as they finished from 3rd through 6th, thus earning a spot in the playoffs.

- The teams are matched in the format of #3 vs. #6 and #4 vs. #5, giving the following matches in the first round of the playoffs: Srs vs. fnatic & TeG vs. +46.

- The first set of matches in the playoffs is single elimination. From WB R 1 the tournament is double elimination.

- The playoffs are played in BO1-mode, with the Grand Final being played in BO5.

- The playdowns are played in BO1-mode, with the finals being played in BO3

The schedule for the playoffs looks like this:

It also has to be determined which teams that are going to be eliminated from PDL, and that is done in the playdowns. Slovakia NecroRaisers and Ukraine Wolker Gaming already pulled out of the league, thus leaving only two more teams to be faced with the task of requalifying for the league.

The playdowns will be played amongst the teams placed 7th through 10th and two of the teams will have to leave the league. Just like in the playoffs, the highest ranked team is going to take on the lowest ranked team.

In the playdowns it is going to be single elimination and the fight for the 7th place will be played out as a BO3. The schedule for the playdowns looks like this:

Well to be honest I do not see to much of a problem with BO1, since winning means that you were better then that certain team or had better heroes that game and maybe it's just me but I want PDL to get to the finals phase already to see top teams clash. Maybe in terms of rivalry a BO1 says and means nothing, but when it comes to competition only one team can win and proceed and one game is enough to say which team had the better heroes or best teamwork that match. I don't know if it's Phil or Bunny or someone else, but whoever it is, what did the word 'inaugural' do to deserve being raped time and time again? It's NOT a common word, but someone sure has to abuse it every single time there is even the SLIGHEST possibility of structuring a sentence in a way where it can be used. It's one of those fancy words which, nine times out of ten, is used not because of it being the most appropriate word, but because the writer thinks it makes him sound SOPHISTICATED! =)

All it does is make you look silly :P

Late night rant I know, but I'm fed up with it in all honesty ^^ The english of most authors here at myMYM is fine really. This is why I don't get the persistent use of these fancy words, as trying to "show off" using advanced words for simple things just goes to show the suddenly LARGE contrast between the fancy, advanced words and the not-so-fancy rest.

Just a piece of advice. Might make a professional site even more professional :)

I used it, and to be honest it was the first word that came to mind. Please note that I didn't use it in the newspost, but only in the teaser, so it's not like I abuse or overuse it.

Oh and, it might seem fancy to Danes, but the word sure does cover the meaning I wanted to express.

Why? Because writing is a form of communication, and the best communication is clear communication. As a newsposter on a site with readers from hundreds of different nations, this rule just applies ten times over in your case. Why write if you're not understood by your readers? :) Inaugural is a fine word, we can certainly agree on that. I know Ishamael = Elan Morin Tedronai, but "The World of the Wheel of Time" does not mention Moridinn at all, as he does not make his first appearance in the series until late in book seven, A Crown of Swords. AFAIK there's no official confirmation as to who or what he is (a new guy raised Forsaken, a Forsaken no one knew about until now, or one of the dead-yet-not-destroyed-by-balefire Forsaken raised to life by The Dark One again?). It would be very onlike Jordan to introduce new forsaken, so I'm pretty sure it's Ishamael. It fits well, both being pretty insane, Ishamael being one of the few not destroyed by balefire who have yet to be raised to life again (there's actually only Ishamael and Asmodean left with Aginor and Balthamel being raised to Osan'gar and Aran'gar, and the character does not fit Asmodeans personality at all).

EDIT: Ah well, you said it, wiki ftw.

also, Moridin/Ishamael were the only ones using the True power granted by the dark lord, and permission for this was also granted only by the dark lord (saa rememmber?), so it's pretty much not a coincidence :)

True. Could have been others though. While Ishamael was the only one of the Forsaken using the True Power, they all had access to it I think - prior to him becoming Moridin and being named Nae'blis ofc, at which point he was the only one allowed to use it.

I really have a hard time understanding how Ishamael is pulled back from the grave to be raised Nae'blis. I mean, everyone else who failed have been resurrected into positions lower or atleast not higher than those they held before (Aginor->Osan'gar, Balthamel->Aran'gar, Lanfear->Cyndane etc.). I suppose Ishamaels accomplishments during the time where the others were sealed off (Trolloc Wars, War of the Hundred Years) warrants some kind of reward, but still... He failed miserably at Falme and in the Stone of Tear, and the Dark One reacts by resurrecting him and naming him Nae'blis? Weird.

Either MYM or fnatic will win this. If fnatic loses against srs, then SK is surely out, they have bad luck against the french. :D Avid and x6 will be out. Those are my bets.
