No StarCraft 2 for Christmas

Best-selling computer game in 1998, best strategy computer game of the same year and 9 million copies sold worldwide, which ranks it as the third best-selling computer game in the history. A highly awaited sequel is on its way, expected to hit the stores at the end of this year...

All that we know about StarCraft 2 so far can be summarized in just couple of words and a single statement - "maybe", "probably" and "it will be done when it is ready". Actually no matter what you hear or read it is either a rumor or a speculation. The only "reliable" source is Blizzard, but yet even the developers admit that nothing is final.

As Blizzard strive for perfection more and more, the more clear it becomes, that StarCraft 2 will not make a 2008 release or even beta. The so obvious fact has been officially confirmed by Frank Pearce (Blizzard's Executive Vice President of Product Development):

"This year? Like, 2008? Too much work to do, we don’t have a specific release date in mind yet. We still have too much work to do.

Apparently the balancing process and doing the Single Player campaigns simultaneously is taking too much time and Blizzard simply cannot handle all that work.

I think this is good. Blizzard is a great company that publish very good games, they won't take the bet to launch starcraft to early, they don't have pressure, only from medias maybe. We just have to wait with Wc3/Wow/Sc1 (=

This is typical Blizzard and what makes their games amazing. They don't ever have "set times" for when a game should be released since they want to make their games the best that they can be which may mean pushing the release date further. LIVE TO WIN

this is blizzard, pretty much the same scenario again.. blizzard wont let anyone down :) they have never done a bad game and i think that wont happen in near future :)

Well Blizzard still releases just half the game first and makes us buy the expansion for it later to complete the game just like in SC and WC.

I don't think that's the problem. Actually, for companies with much larger staffs the lack of communication often leads to bland games. If anyone could afford a bigger staff it's Blizzard ^^ I'm simultanously relieved and saddened by this. Of course I want to play SC2 asap, but at the same time I don't want Blizz to start compromising in their production process. If it takes another whole year to finish then so be it. I'll wait, and what I'll be waiting for will be a far superior product to any other RTS coming out at that time ^^ PS: ...should've just skipped the demot-poster : ( Last edited by Dectilon at 30.08.2008, 12:20 Suprise and Terror!

eh what do they think- that a good rts can be made simply out of their heads and public desires? brood war was their best rts move ever, but it was a lucky move as they didnt have a clue how the game will be played and on what level, whereas in their other rts titles where they have alot more control over the gameplay we can see the game being nowhere near the difficulty level and complexity of sc - so why waste time pretending they'll make a hit game, 3D rts are so bad that sc2 is already better than all of them and it's already a hit because it leeches on sc reputation, no matter what they do the game will still be far from balanced and it will take some time before players explore the game and before an expansion for sc2 comes which might make it close to what sc is in the world of 2D rts. If force won't work, use greater force.

Fuck WoW... who cares about this crappy game >< SC2 will revolutionize the whole esport world but I still belive that it'll be full of buggs and imbalanced strats. So even if it comes out, we will have to wait few more months for the updates.
