Dubaï to host ESL Global Challenge

dubaï, esl, global challenge

Dubaï, the place of all dreams. Considered as the richest city on Earth, the city of Dubaï is what Middle East has best to offer. Burj-Al-Arab Hotel, commonly known as the highest tower in the World, or The World, that contigent of mini-islands representing planet Earth with its continents, gave Dubaï a reputation of a highly-developped, modernised arabic Emirate.

The closest contact esport scene had with the Middle East is undoubtely Saudi Arabia ArabianJocker, that Saoudian PES player that managed to grab the 1st place at the ESWC 2004 on the well-known soccer simulation. Anyways, it's a long time ago, and we all thought that we won't hear major news regarding Middle East really soon. ESL organization just proved we were wrong.

ESL Global Challenge will take place at the Gitex Shopper 2008, Dubaï. The competition will be held between 18th and 24th October, and 16 of the most notorious international Counter-Strike teams will be invited, in addition of four local teams (who will have to grab their places via local qualifications). The prize money is about $50.000. Be sure to stay tuned here at myMYM for further details.

Dubai is ridiculous ... amazing how much they have changed in the past decade and it's amazing how much they are pushing to change even more.

Great to see tournaments being held in different locations also.

Moscow isn't the richest it's the most expensive city. Goods and services in Dubai are much much more cheaper, especially for foreigners. Unless you're planning to stay in one of those fancy 6-7 star hotels you can save a lot of money.
