Just now, it has been announced that one of the most prominent G7 organizations, SK Gaming, has decided to drop its Call of Duty 4 team due a lack of major results in the past few months.
The team joined SK Gaming about 6 months ago, when they were playing as
The6Devils and were raking up major victories; their most notable being the victors in the highly competitive CoDQCup with a victory in the finals over
TEK9.
After their victory it became clear that without support T6D could not afford to travel to the
Crossfire Devotii Challenge in Enschede, but shortly before the event, the team announced it had joined up with SK Gaming who saw the potential in the team and decided to enter the Call of Duty 4 scene.
The team at that time consisted of:
Andre 'iFEARdlemma' Merzinsky (Captain)
Andy 'flie' Rhein
Turgut 'Respawn' Yildiz
Burak 'MOKAI' Bolat
Volkan 'thunder' Kocakahya
At the Crossfire event, the team had a somehow disappointing run, placing far below theirs and the community's expectations. After the tournament, it quited down around the team as they went into a short hiatus.
Then in May the team announced it had added former SPEED-LINK player
Michael 'spaR' Ege to ensure future activity in preperation for all the major summer LANs; AEF, TeX and i34. Shortly after, the team also announced the addition of former SPEED-LINK legend
Enrico 'Fuchsstute' Ausborn as their manager to help motivate the team once again and take the flaws out of their game.
Meanwhile the results of the team were disappointing with an early exit in the Clanbase EuroCup and a bad EMS season. It became clear that major things had to change for the team to make it happen once again. A first step (for better or worse) was the controversial situation where
Volkan 'thunder' Kocakahya, accordingly left the team due to internal problems, had a brief affair with German powerhouse SPEEDLINK, only to see this move being denied due to contractual obligations to SK. According to the team however, they discussed their differences and in the end it had made them stronger.
Things seemed to be looking up for the team as they also announced another addition in the form of former Call of Duty 2 legend
Daniel 'L-King' Luther who brought in a wealth of experience for the team. The team then started training for the summer events, and just now
The Antwerp Esports Festival has come to an end.
In short, the tournament was a blow to the face for the SK team and organisation, the team had been training hard for the last 3 weeks and it just did not work out for them. They breezed through the groupstages but then got knocked down to the lowerbracket by
Pandemic (who won the tournament in the end) and then got send home by
Fnatic in a disappointing 7-13 defeat.
According to the teams manager
Enrico 'Fuchsstute' Ausborn, the SK organisation then reviewed their 6 month stay, and decided to drop the team as they were not worth investing money in anymore due their lack of major victories and results. He added, that the team will not participate in TeX, but remain highly motivated for the future to prove once again that they belong in the top segment of the international Call of Duty scene.
The former SK Gaming line-up consisted of the following players:
Enrico 'Fuchsstute' Ausborn (Manager)
Andre 'iFEARdlemma' Merzinsky (Captain)
Andy 'flie' Rhein
Michael 'spaR' Ege
Burak 'MOKAI' Bolat
Daniel 'L-King' Luther
Volkan 'thunder' Kocakahya
Turgut 'Respawn' Yildiz (Backup)

spaR wasn't with the team when they played at CDC4. He joined a couple of months ago, then Fuchsstute and finally L-KING quite recently.
