In a weekend where the North Americans taught the Europeans something about Call of Duty 4, the  MYM.CoD4-team had an accetable showing. Victories against fnatic, Serious Gaming and H2k saw the English side clinch a 5/6th place alongside Tek9.

Though the team was just the third best European team, they didn't lose to a single European team in the brackets. After their initial win against fnatic in Winner Bracket, MYM faced the later winners from Pandemic in the second round. A quick 13-4 runover and the Brits were in Loser Bracket.

From there they took out Serious and H2k before being pitted against the Canadians from Evil Geniuses. Though it as a fairly equal game, MYM couln't keep the Cannucks away from taking the needed 13 rounds to proceed, thus crashing out on 5/6th place.

With The Experience coming up on Thursday, I got a hold of MYM.CoD4's manager  Robert 'Morg' Black to hear what the team were all about these days:

Hi Morg, right off Antwerpen Esports Festival with a shared 5th place; how would you describe the tournament overall?
Well pretty overwhelming to be honest. It was the largest event where a CoD series game has been the main competition. With every top team from Europe in attendance, as well as two of North America's best. Unfortunately that didn't mean for a steadily run tournament. With around 4 hours delay on the Friday and on the Saturday, we didn't get to bed on Saturday night until 4am. Having said that it was a really great tournament to participate in and to be at!

You had a somewhat mixed showing, beating fnatic in stylish manner and then just after being run over by Pandemic. How do you rate your team's performance at the event?
The shared 5th place with Tek9 is something that we think was a fair showing for such a strong field of opponents. However it isn't the placing we want or know we can achieve. The problem with Call of Duty 4 at this young age of the game is people are still discovering much about the game and this leads to somewhat of a random batch of results for a lot of teams.

For example one of the top on form teams in EU at the moment is H2k - they were beaten by tek9, who have been showing form as of late but not to the scale of H2k. The team however know where they went wrong in all their matches, and as we speak they are checking over things doing a few strats etc. And we deffinately know we can finish first at TEX.

You only lost to non-European teams, so if you put it on the edge, are you then the best European CoD-team? Or would you have to beat Tek-9, Dignitas or KC to be that?
We know we are the best team in EU when on form. It would have been nice to play against Komacrew as our playstyle really works well against them, and to win one over dignitas after the i33 final loss would be good too : D I guess we will have to see at TEX!

Having lost only to the North American teams in the playoffs was pretty positive for us, having not really seen their playstyle before and getting the feeling we had been specifically anti strat'd now we know how they play there will be a few more tricks up our sleeve next time.

So now you got an idea of where your opponents are before TeX. What are your expectations for the event?
We expect to have a really tough set of matches because even though we have seen our opponents, they have seen us. In terms of where we expect to place, we expect to win and anything outside of the top 3 for us would be a total dissapointment.

How will your preparations be for TeX? Will it be 24/7 training to ensure that you reach that goal?
24/7 is a little bit too much. There are only a few adjustments that need to be done to our playing and tactics to the point where we feel we can make a run for 1st at TEX, so some structured training with breaks and some early nights are what we think is in order : D
