Video interview: ToSsGirL with photos!

famos, interview, korea, queen of terran, starcraft, tossgirl

She is one of the most famous female progamers in the world, known to many as Korea, South Terran ToSsGirL. She is the one and only queen of Terran and female StarCraft player, who defeated YellOw in the WCG Korea 2005 and is now trying to work her way up in the male StarCraft events, playing for the Korean progaming team STX SouL.

In November last year, we saw her playing in the MSL Offline Qualifications (where she failed) and now she played some games on ICCup under the account of Korea, South InteR.Calm. However, before that she won tournaments like 4th Ghem TV Women's Starleague (2005), MBCGame Ladies Starleague (2005), 5th SkyLife GhemTV Women's Starleague (2005).

Recently, she was picked up by one of the Korean StarCraft websites, fomos.kr for a videointerview.

myMYM.com's Singapore Wind translated the interview into English and created a transcript. Believe me, you don't want to miss that.

Furthermore, a new photoshoot was done with her, and of course we want to show you those pictures!

Q. There hasn't been an interview of you in a long time.

A lot of people actually thought that I have already reitred. However, as a player I would like to participate in even more tournaments and activities related to the game. Lately, I have also been doing more interviews..or should I say occasionally, just to let everyone know that I am still around.

Q. How have you been practicing lately?

Recently, I have been focusing more on my state of mind. But besides that, I have also been training as usual like a professional player. Truthfully, it's very nervous for a girl to compete on the same level as the guys. However, I believe that I can compete on the same level as men right now, and I have successfully managed to curb my tensions.

Q. How do you feel being a female professional gamer?

Ever since I was 17, I had the dream of becoming a professional player, and it wasn't easy to convince my parents. Right now, my goals are very clear to me and there isn't a single moment where I regretted becoming a progamer.

Although female-tournaments do not exist anymore, but there are no tournament rules that disallow females to participate. Therefore, I sincerely hope to achieve my dreams before I retire.

Q. And what are your goals?

I want to be an integral player in my team and participate in the pro-league. In addition, I'd also want help my teammates so that they can actually feel my existence within the team.

Q. Do you still keep in contact with other female professional players?

Yeah, I talk to the older female-players quite often. Since I am the oldest child at home, there are times when I felt lonely, and so I'll catch up with them.

Q. Do you have any burdens being the only female professional player in Korea?

More than before actually. In the past, people would start complaining as long as I start getting fat, but not anymore now. As long as I am the only female professional player, I can't afford to be the idol in the eyes of everyone.

Q. I heard Boxer is your new idol now.

A lot of players lose interest of the game as they get older, but Boxer is different. He's a role model for everyone, and I hope to become the female version of Boxer.

Q. What do you usually do in your spare time?

I usually do not go out, so I spend most of my spare time watching TV dramas and serials. Most of my time is spent on practicing, hence I don't usually have a lot of time to relax.

Q. When are you going to take part in the qualifiers?

Just wait for me until I have improved my strategies. I am confident that I can hit the top-16.

Q. How have you been improving as a player so far?

Time has passed really quickly, and I feel a little old now. But I also think that I have matured as a player. In the past, I can't defeat a certain professional player (who shall remain anonymous) during practice games at all. But recently, I won with a score of 3 to 1.

My team leader has always been telling me to do my best and go as far as I can in the tournament. Right now my attitude is much better, and I want to do my best.

Q. Any tips for all aspiring female progamers?

A lot of girls want to enter the esports scene just to get close with their favorite progamers. But I'd like to advise them to re-consider, since everything isn't as simple as they think it is. Being a progamer is not just about glamour and fame.

Q. Finally, do you have anything to add before we finish the interview?

I will be prepared for the future. Thank you!

Well, your comment made it sound like you thought she was a CS pro :P but last time I checked countries like China and Vietnam are having more events for games like CS , WC3, etc.

She's hot in her skirts, exposing her long legs but it seems I managed to see a few scratches on her leg and her feet ain't that white.
