SC2 system requirements released*
The Spanish game magazine Micromania has visited Blizzard and written an article about SC2. That is not interesting in itself, if they hadn't included the system requirements for the game! If you want to figure out whether you need to upgrade your PC or not, keep reading.
Acorrding to Micromania, the system requirements for StarCraft 2 look like this:
Minimum System Requirements:
- Graphics Card: GeForce 7/8 Series or Radeon 1000/2000 with 256 MB RAM
- CPU: Pentium 4
- RAM: 1 GB
- Internet: ADSL 1 Mbit
Recommended System Requirements:
- Graphics Card: GeForce 8000 or Radeon 2000 Series with 512 MB RAM
- CPU: Core 2 Duo or Athlon X2
- RAM: 2 GB
- Internet: ADSL 3 Mbit
Optimal System Requirements
- Graphics Card: GeForce 9000's or Radeon 3000's series
- CPU: Core 2 Duo 3 GHz or Athlon X2
- RAM: 2GB with DualChannel mode
* The German SC2-site starcraft2.4players.de has gotten a hold of Blizzard, who stressed out that the requirements were not official ones, but most likely specifications that Micromania had gotten from interviews with some of the developers

i actually played The Lost Vikings a few months ago (again), and... well, the requirements gap (from potato-powered computers to servers stolen from NASA) is kinda big. im shocked a bit.
but since blizzard is known for creating very non-resource-demanding games, do you know what this means? they will probably release it in about 53456643 years :/ I'll be nicer when you're smarter.

The recommended connection is for a RTS game is imo kinda weird. Since when does game a rts actually need 3Mbit ? Cuz if it was a brand new mmorpg or fps it would be reasonable. But ofcourse now a days everyone has good internet connection and I think all above 3 mbit so no woriries about that. But still odd the connection requirements.

damn cant catch up with this req.. unless i can work and save for it!! what's with all these imba req...it should run at least 512mb...its not like we needed so much power asap....its too much for not-so-rich-oh-i-wish-i-can-buy-this-requirements people

the 3mbit part is a misinformation most likely, since an rts game simply cannot require such bandwidth, I'm quite sure the blizzard developers didn't lose their touch and a 256 or 512 kbps connection would be perfectly enough; more could be required for hosting custom games | |

That SC news was published by MicroMania Spain, and it doesn´t talk in any site about the requirements. I have that magazine and I did a scan, so you can take a look. (Of course, is in spanish, but requirements should be clear to understand, if it exist) | |

I found the source and it says literally:
"Blizzard don´t say about the requirements..."... "wont be very exigent". There is a typo in the box, where it says: 3GB of bandwith lol. About the CPU: "nothing pointed that it won´t improve with processor better than Core 2 Duo 3 GHz or Athlon X2" In the minimum, it says: (talking about CPU), "Pentium 4, could handle the battles". .... Then: "With 1Gb Ram will be great". "Without ADSL you will be out of the battle".... | |||||||||||||
