The last but one ESWC pre-qualifier was held in Stockholm, Sweden at the well-known gaming center called Inferno Online. 28 teams were participating, some of them professionals while others were unknown or belong to the Swedish semi-professional scene - all fighting for the two spots to ESWC Swedish Final Qualifier that will be launched this summer at DreamHack Summer 2008.
It was predicted at early stage that both
fnatic and
blank, along with GeT_RiGhT and face, would make it furthest, however, the final match between these two powerhouses was never settled, seeing that fnatic gave walk-over.
As a result of this, fnatic was being dragged and heavily criticized by the Swedish Counter-Strike scene. Even the personnel of Inferno Online were threathing fnatic with disqualification, according to
Patrik 'cArn' Sattermon. You can find his whole statement in his own blog, over at fnatic.com.
These are the teams that are qualified for now:
fnatic (cArn, ins, Archi, dsn, f0rest)
blank (JAEGARN, GeT_RiGhT, face, Nikolaus, Gux)
SK Gaming (allen, walle, RobbaN, SpawN, Tentpole)
Playzone (threat, danne, kHRYSTAL, Stranger, qp)
Skillz of Borås (xpozer, fuze, flipper, ninoze, norske)
Matrix-Gaming (unknown)
The last pre-qualifier will be held at DreamHack as well, just before the real qualification starts with autoberths for the ESWC Grand Final 2008 of San Jose (CA), USA.

As professional gamers their job is to play and represent their team. I dont think this could happen in any other sport (for example football teams not playing because they are tired or want to go home ? )
I really anticipated the final last night and i got very disappointed by fnatic . I dont think that blog gave any reasonable explanation. hi i like pie

this happens in any type of game and or sport(if you follow sports a lot you cna even say it happens quite often in tournaments, champions league, UEFA cup, World Cup(s), European Championships etc etc), fnatic has all the rights and w/e to do this. Of course it's not nice for the spectators and stuff, but if it's fnatic's choice.

This happens all the time in Portugal at the ESWC pre-qualifiers. Since both teams are already qualified and it's usually late most of them agree not to play the final, I mean, the point it's to qualify teams, I think the final isn't all that important and I don't understand all this fuss about such matter.

Its a joke that fnatic has to pre-qualify for the swedish finals as reigning champion and best team in the world..

can't really catch the purpose of this news item, both teams were qualified there's nothing wrong about leaving earlier, it's their problem if this will later affect their seeding to the swedish final..
just focus on the subject, the pre qualifier.. :| Last edited by LINKAGE at 19.05.2008, 11:18

I think It's a joke and an insult to threat Fnatic with a disqualification. They are the champions and they also qualified like all others.

When Icefrog introduced 6.52 in May, DotA came under fire as the game turned into a huge farm fest. This is apparently not appealing to most fans as it is boring to watch a full out farming game. Ther...
