ENC 08: Finland beats Ukraine

Some of the last matches at ESL European Nations Championship 2008 third qualification round for Counter-Strike 1.6 were concluded yesterday. The big meeting between Finland and Ukraine drew a lot of spectators, seeing that Ukraine has lately introduced a great amount of professional players and teams such as HellRaisers and Amazing Gaming.

Ukraine started out really good on the first map, which was de_train, and could easily maneuver the results to their advantage. Finland woke up on the second map and produced a good fight against Ukraine in a relatively even match which ended 16-14 for Finland. Ukraine was quite exhausted and worn out during the last and decisive match and this situation made Finland gain a firm grip of the game.

Finland Finland [02:01] Ukraine Ukraine

Finland
: lurppis, contE, tihOp, kookas and SPIKEONE
Ukraine: Edward, Zeus, strike, B1ad3 and markeloff
Maps: de_train, de_dust2, de_nuke
Results: 6-16, 16-14, 16-4

We won't be seeing Ukraine in this year's season of European National Championship organized by Electronic Sports League.

#2 Poland is in the Main Round as they won the event a year ago. Finland didn't even pass Main Round last year so that they were seeded a bit low.
