Two days ago saw the elimination of MYM duo,
FoCuS and
Shy from the third season of AWL. This is not the only upset however, as their elimination follows the exit of fellow teammate,
Lucifer out of the tournament as well.
Nonetheless, SK.ReiGn and former Go player, ReprisaL have managed to progress on to the following round after finishing on top of the group. The Korean portal site, FighterForum has caught up with both of these players for a short interview.
myMYM.com has translated it to English:
Group B (Winner) –
SK.ReiGn (Original Interview)
How do you feel now that you have entered the quarter-finals with a clean sheet?
I didn’t expect to play on such a big map, and my spawn positions weren’t really favorable for me. They were difficult games for me, but I have tried my best to keep calm and managed to win both games.
It must be pretty tiring for you to play 2 long games.
Yeah, it’s a little tiring (laughs)
In your match against MYM]Shy, he had a level 6 dark ranger and stole quite a bit of your units. What was going through your mind then?
I started thinking on how should I go about countering his dark ranger, since he could have stolen my entire army. Eventually, I decided to stay in base and wait till both our mines run out and fight with a huge army.
And while playing against ReprisaL, you turned the game around from a huge disadvantage.
I tried to play the game slowly after losing my level 3 Death Knight and Lich with destroyers. I guess I was very lucky to win that game.
What do you think about your next opponent (BeT.Check), whom you will face in the quarter-finals?
It is going to be another difficult match since I will be playing a Night elf. I’ll practice hard for this and do my best.
Did you set any goals for this tournament?
Not really, I just believe that I can reap good results with hard work. But top 4 will be satisfying enough.
A word for your fans please.
I guess a lot of people have been saying that I am not in-form lately, but I have been working hard and I have a good record in the WC3L so far.
Group B (Runner-up) –
ReprisaL (Original Interview )
You have finally managed to reach the quarter-finals in the third season. How do you feel about this?
It just feels good.
You are the first human player to reach the quarter-finals of AWL.
In the first season’s groupstage I had 2 wins and 1 loss, but it wasn’t enough to advance to the single elimination round. I was eliminated early in the second season, but now, I have finally reached my target of top 8 in this tournament.
You seem to adopt a unique playstyle, like having an invisible MK to kill peasants. How do you usually practice?
I usually practice such strategies on ladder.
In your final match, you chose to use tower rush against MYM]Shy.
It was some sort of a gamble since I felt that he didn’t scout enough in that game.
Your next opponent is Lyn. What do you think about him?
I will re-assure myself that there is no clear favourite. I will tell myself that both him and I have the same amount of resources in the beginning of the game. That will allow me to feel less pressured, though practicing will always remain as the key to victory.
A word for your fans please.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped me achieved my goal of top 8. But I will not stop here, and will try my best to win my remaining matches.
