MYM eases the Pain

WickeD in the qualifiers, DoP was looking in good shape. Many expected DoP to give a good fight against MYM.DotA, maybe even an upset.

Ah the olden days when ganking was passé and farming was all the rage. Today Team MYM and Domain of Pain decided to revisit yester year in their Pride 9 playoff match.
The middle of games, or mid-game as it were, is usually focused around ganking. However, in this match, the match was won and lost in the lanes. From the start it seemed MYM was set to forgo ganking and focus out farming DoP. Perhaps it was because DoP had gankmasters Treant and Lina, but the more likely reason MYM decided to just lane control and farm is that from the very beginning they were dominating the lanes.
MYM|Maelk’s Queen of Pain virtually free-farmed the middle-lane. DoP.Emperor did ok as a solo Treant against QoP, but while he could get his creep kills, he could do nothing to stop Maelk from getting his. But, losing one lane against QoP is not that big of a deal right? Well, it is when the other two lanes are also being won handily by MYM.
By the 15 minute mark, QoP had higher creep stats than all of DoP sans Emperor, combined. The rest of MYM’s creep stats were roughly double of those same four DoP members. Alas for DoP, it was not meant to be.
Around the 20 minute mark the action started to pick up and full team battles started to occur. DoP’s lineup was designed around Treant’s ultimate; a bad ult meant a lost battle, a good ult likely a won battle.
But MYM was set up to prevent a good Treant ult. With Priestess of the Moon and QoP able to stay on the edges of battle and enter the foray whenever they chose, Treant was never able to root more than three MYM members. The free MYM members then proceeded to pick off the underfarmed DoP team, and DoP simply could not stop it.
This same scenario played out a few times, the last a 5-0 kill route for MYM. MYM used this to take down the middle rax, and DoP proceeded to forfeit.
MYM will face Wolker-Gaming in the second round of the Pride 9 playoffs. DoP will face Team Pandemic in the loser’s bracket.

#9 Sorry but I actually think quite opposite, out of all the moments or the time in the games these 3 pictures aren't exactly the best ones, The pictures do not really say much or do not really capture that moments of what happen during that part of the game. Mania DD SK getting Stunned and lightning by leschrac and lich getting ready to cast, 3v1 combat, not interesting. Screen 2 TP save, like we do not see that before. Sarevok still got the tower. The sven was way too much of a pussy at top lane, they had a stronger lane than MYM for the first few levels at least, but he guaranteed they lost it by staying back and not being aggressive or even creeping.
Btw stop bitching about the pics, they look cool so it's fine. Sorry to burst your bubble but you can't summarise a DotA game with 3 screenshots. Last edited by declan at 13.02.2008, 20:45

Very interesting read. Too bad I couldn't get any replay. It's scary to see that DoP brought all ganker heroes - not to mention the Lich + Roof - in the fray. IMO they had pretty good choices, but their main mistake must've been letting TP go solo against Maelk's QoP early game.

actually if u want to argue it was stupid to put treant against qop solo, u must insist that DoP have not used treant at all. treant needs that solo and i cant imagine him not being raped by any of the other lanes.
their main problem, i wouldnt call it a mistake bc mym is just that good, was the outer lanes, treant has no lane control cept maybe against mag or another melee solo, so the other lanes MUST show. just like the article said RAWK AWN
