Seems like there is a lot of positions that needs to be filled. Is a resumé of former work required? I bet there's a lot of people out there who has never worked with E-sport coverage before, but still would like to apply.

Normally people don't bother to send resume's of former work anyway, but in general we would like to see what people are capable of.

If it is solely for a coverage-position we can of course accept a somewhat lacking English, but for any of the editorial positions we need something written to evaluate people on.

I know every game stated here quite well, though there are some of them that I would consider my favourites. Is there any limitations to how many of the positions you can apply for?

Weeeell, not really, but bear in mind that you will be working under different editors then. If you can handle that, I see no problem.

As I suggested to Wind, I think if you managed to get a good proof reader or someone to produce a writing guide for your staff, it would improve the quality of the website tenfold.

The way language is being used at the moment isn't optimal, and for example

http://www.mymym.com/en/news/12126.html

is actually counter productive from an advertising perspective. From personal experience, MYM has the highest rate of staff change of the big organisations, must be some reason for this.

If you want to try and innovate, why not introduce salaries to your website staff, and add a 'corrections page'. Website users who spot errors (factual or linguistic) earn money, the money is then taken from the writers salary. Would soon sort out any weak links.

I'm glad to see you are expanding your area of command with your writing regime. Nonetheless this is not SK-Gaming (if you should have confused the websites), and I actually know how to run a website. As always in life, you have to take things step by step. Even if I would, I couldn't start from scratch as we would have a massive loss of users due to not having any content for a period.

By the way, this is ot: http://img115.exs.cx/img115/1141/grammar-nazi.jpg

Writing regime, how quaint. Loving the implication though, how tasteful and professional. I wonder what your excuse is, for having less traffic and users than your direct competitors. Then of course, you know how to run a website, so you don't need me telling you how frustrating it's to read barely plausible content on eSport websites.

Don't automatically assume anyone who criticizes, does so purely to whine or be a grammar nazi. I want to read really good content, so if you're not providing it, then I'm going to ask for it.

Damn son, take a chill pill.

Sure the content isn't perfect but take a look around, MYM isn't the only one like this, is it?

Phil is not oblivious of this problem and has been working on it. I for one have noticed the quality increase since his arrival, and I can see it getting even better.

Anyways I thought this was a recruitment thread, not a compliants/ suggestions thread ><

quality has been improving lately, especially since phil arrived. guess the problem is all good editors leave because they dont get paid and then new ones come and you have to repeat the whole process again until finally they produce flawless work, only to leave the team as well and repat the cycle :)

think i never saw so many good staff members leave like i've seen in the past few months. guess the problem for many ppl is that they think they're working for thin air. only way to do your job well is to have a basic instinct in yourself that forces you to correct your own mistakes and improve, because that's what it's all about, doing something you enjoy and using it to improve your skills.

If force won't work, use greater force.

Your grammar isn't great either. Sorry.

Periods inside quotation marks.

"corrections page."

and add a 'corrections page'.

Ignoring the fact that the error you pointed out doesn't exist, it has nothing to do with grammar, it's a stylistic issue.
(6 months ago)  #36 myMYM|iaMsWarm
iaMsWarm
Sorry, but you made a mistake.

We are using Standard American English.

Periods are never outside if we are using this style.

Respect the things you cannot change..

The sentence doesn't end in the quotation, the quotation functions as a subordinate clause and has to be treated as such. Its position in the sentence is irrelevant, and making American English your excuse, is just dreadful.

If you really want to be useful, go study form and function instead of misidentifying my 'mistakes' twice, and even then, still failing. Just in case you're still defiant.

Quote from an Cambridge article about teaching English.

The survey also found that, although 83 per cent of respondents used English with non-native speakers, 67 per cent said they communicated with native speakers (both are, of course, possible).

while scientific and technical publications, even in the U.S., almost universally use logical quotation (punctuation outside unless part of the source material), due to its precision.

Logical quotation means punctuation based on grammar, i.e. the British system. So congratulations, really.
