No ESWC qualification in several countries?

Every year ESWC has an ESWC-qualification for the Grand Finals in Paris, and in 2007 the ESWC-organiziation had 35 local partners, but this year they have changed that.

They have changed from 35 local partners down to 24 nations, and that means, that countries like Korea, Denmark, USA, Finland, Norway and Brazil maybe not will be having an ESWC-qualification.

The reason those countries are not a local partner of ESWC anymore is because it costs about 20.000 $ to be a partner, and that's a pretty huge fee, that some of the countries can't afford to pay.

Update: ESWC has just confirmed that discussions are still getting underway, and the aforementioned countries are just those that carry the prospect of not having a national qualifier.

does it means that these countries are gonna receive invites? lol wanna see how they will invite wc3 korean players, only fair way is a quali.
And for CS, if these countries dont get an invite, then big failure for eswc, because no mibr, NoA(mtw), roccat, estro, etc, makes the tour a lot less interesting, mainly because there will be only one representative from sweden (SK or fnatic), and one from germany (aTTax or mouz), it would make a most likely 4 or 5 considerable teams only, mym, sweden, germany, eml, and maybe vp

anyway, i was waiting for good dota games on all quallies tt

Please check your sources before announcing such things.
We are, as always, open to any interview or to answer to precise questions.

1 / we intend to sign partnerships with all countries mentioned, or more if possible. There is no a priori limit. Discussions are in progress with about 20 additional countries. The final list of the national qualifiers will be known in the next months, probably in May.

2 / the ESWC license is negotiated country by country regarding the local market, the potential sponsors, and the size of the company holding the qualifier... The difficulties of some partners come by the fact that we ask to cover the trips to USA for the winners of the national qualifiers. For your information, in many cases, the costs of the flights are more expensive than the ESWC license. So we work on solutions.

3/ South Korea IS in the list of countries with national preliminaries: http://www.eswc.com/nsp2008

I think Enrique misunderstood the sourced article at Rakaka. It has been addressed now. To his excuse I didn't see SK either when I was browsing the site yesterday.

Does no one proofread anything at MYM?

"maybe not will be having an ESWC-qualification." The wording is just awkward and awful.

The Netherlands aren't partners either atm, really shitty news. Was stunned by Korea not being a partner.
Hope they make something good out of it, there can't be a big tournament without Korea.
