ESL announce Major Series season 2
ESL anounces a second season of the popluar ESL Major Series (EMS). This is a gathering of games, all put in to a league with offline finals for some games and a chance to take part of € 15.000 prizemoney. Sure the prizes are not huge when you look at how many games there are that the money is spread over, but it is a good step for the games that doesn't get to much media attention.
A list of the games follows.
- Call of Duty 4 (CoD 4 5v5) € 1.500
- Counter-Strike:Source (CS:S 5v5) € 3.000
- Counter-Strike 1.6 Female (CS 5v5) € 1.000
- Dawn of War: Dark Crusade ( DoW:DC Clanwar) € 1.000
- Defense of the Ancients (Dota 5v5) € 1.000
- Enemy Territory (ETQW 6v6) € 1.000
- FIFA 08 (Clanwar) € 2.000
- Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (PES 1on1): Hardware prizes
- Team Fortress 2 (TF2 6v6) € 1.500
- Unreal Tournament 3 (UT3 Clanwar): €1.500 + Hardware prizes for MVPs
Some of the games get € 1.000 for travel exspenses for the offline final.
And on a side note, I think that the Pink CS icon for the Female CS 1.6 league is very ignorant by the ESL. We do not live in the society where boys love blue and girls love pink by default, a new image would be in order.

#6 the game is already on EM so the comment is correct. The purpose of Major Series, from the very beginning, is to promote games not supported by ESL's main competition, Extreme Masters.
