FIGHTING MYM'S DISCRIMINATION by Lawrence "Malystryx" Phillips I'm the Martin Luther King of the Welsh, I'm not fighting racial segregation I'm fighting blatant discrimination on MYM with their being NO national flag for Wales. I even can't "affiliate" Wales with this blog, I have to pick "United Kingd-". Army and I have discussed but it is not up to us, it should be up to the people of MYM to decide if a Welsh flag should be added. Please note: Wales has its own national team for Sports We have our own army which is part of the UK army We have a Capital City, Cardiff We have our own territory We have our own Culture Ever heard of Tom Jones, Ryan Giggs, Joe Calzaghi or maybe the Stereophonics or Dirty Sanchez? All WELSH. Please Vote YES or NO! Do not read what others write just write your initial response when you think of Wales do you think Country or not. Stop this INJUSTICE!

The Union Jack is good enough, I was born in Wales however I'd never refer to myself as Welsh (usually British), I do appreciate that some people are more "nationalistic" than me but I really don't think Wales needs its own flag here. Edit: I don't think any of these are particularly good arguements for having a flag, the sports one is prehaps an exception. Wales has its own national team for Sports - Fair enough, however it doesn't have a seperate team for events such as the Olympics. We have our own army which is part of the UK army. - It has its own regiment, which is part of the army thats correct. But doesn't every seperate county have its "own" regiment too? (I might be wrong here I'm not exactly an expert) We have a Capital City, Cardiff. - This doesn't really mean anything, every individual province or county has its own "Capital". We have our own territory. - So? We have our own Culture. - Yeah I can partly agree with this however the modern Welsh culture is almost identical to that of England (and probably Scotland and Northern Ireland for that matter). I can however agree that the ancient culture is some what of a valid arguement. The main arguement in the whole culture area would be that Wales has its own language which you failed to mention and is probably as good of an arguement as all the others you listed. Someone mentioned earlier about a Welsh national parliament, which they do infact have its called the National Assembly in which they get to control a few areas such as university tuition fee, residental care aid, some aspects invloving agriculture and the enviroment. And also they control the local governments within Wales its self. (They also control areas involving the Welsh languages). There are many things I've missed out probably and this does really sound like quite alot, but if you concider many of the other things involved in government legislation and law making etc you will see that the vast majority of all the laws and similar things are controled by the Government of the United Kingdom (in London). In conclusion to me I don't really think Wales needs a flag here, and even if they did create one I'd just use the Union Jack any way. Last edited by Cepheus at 06.11.2007, 03:51

Still not SUPERPOWERFUL but a little at least ;D Yea own language forgot! :D I remember talking to a friend from Taiwan he was like "why should we not be a country? we have the 5 things it takes to a make a country: army, culture, language, territory and currency" or something along those lines ;D Welsh is ok, still compulsory in Welsh schools to learn it. I can't see how you can argue that Wales needs it's own flag. It is it's own country I do give you that (I'm from England) however England doesn't have it's own flag? If Wales was to get it's own flag that would then mean Ireland would need it's own, Scotland and England. I'm sorry but you really have to be kidding me, if you want to complain about something how about all the companies that have a language setting as "English (United States)" The US does not use pure English there are alot of differences but there is not a "English (United Kingdom)" on many programs. So in my views, stop arguing for arguing sake. You wouldn't argue with the police if they put you as coming from the UK would you? You're arguing simply because you think you will be able to convince people easier here.
