This article is about the modern American culture, how it affects people and the consequences. I've written mostly about students since I'm still a student in an upper-secondary school.

“TRUSTING IN THE SANITY AND RESTRENGTH OF THE UNITED STATES IS NOT AN OPTION” said George W. Bush, president of United States of America.

Everybody sees the United States of America as a big and great nation, but how great is it actually? If you divide the families of the US into three parts, you’ll get rich, half rich and poor families. Obviously the rich and half rich families got enough money to send their children to universities. Some of them also get an academic scholarship which could be a sum of money or other aid granted to a student, because of merit, to pursue his or her studies.

Still, many students assume some of the cost of their own education through work and loans. The United States leads the world in higher education, with many foreign elites choosing to educate their children there.
However, the chance for a student that has a poor family to get this scholarship is quite minimal. That’s negative since everybody has right to study and develop as the other students. What will happen to that student in the future? Students are presumably studying to become something they can enjoy and are interested in, to grow with the other students. If that student gets a scholarship he/she will be able to support the families’ economy and live ordinary.
But I also think that it’s good that some of the schools got apartments where the students can live and study – and offer students to work one hour to earn a free lunch. It’s good to offer some work for the poor students so they can earn something for free.

Nowadays America has many positive and negative aspects. For an instance, the growing violence and the illegal actions.
The education in America is not the biggest activity, many of the students really don’t care about their education – instead they start dealing and selling drugs to earn money. Nevertheless, that’s a big problem in the US, families don’t want their children to join up the illegal organizations and break the law. “Beyond the walls of our home lies a great Nation with a culture of its own” is an old speech about America. I wonder if the inhabitants know what's hiding on the other side of the wall, in my opinion I would say danger, insecurity and rough or injurious physical force.

If I had to choose between the US and Sweden, with no doubt I would start my life in Sweden since it’s more secure and the violence on the streets don’t affect the most people as it does in America.
A positive process is the freedom of religion, where everybody can feel that they are a part of countries liberty. You can’t be forced to belong/join a special religion.
Unfortunately, the racism is pretty big in America and befalls the students and people with an immigrant background, for example the dark-skinned people. Some of the inhabitants haven’t realized that everyone is worth the same and has human rights. The United States of America has an aggregation of persons of the same ethnic family, where most people are regular white Americans, Asians, Latin-Americans and Africans. The most religious state in America is Utah.

Have you ever thought how the racism affects the students? Often the Africans gets discriminated by other students for being dark-skinned, sometimes even by the schoolteachers, the principal or the coach. To make a distinction in favor of or against a person or thing on the basis of the group, category or class is a big problem nowadays, and the worst is that there is no weapon or safety against it. The biggest reason for America being a multicultural now is because of the emigration that took place in the 19th century.

Great article, and as an American, I can completely agree with everything you say. I belong to the middle-class (what you call half-rich), and I have a great chance to make a scholarship/can pay my own education. I find it sickening though, to see so many poor people not even try in school, because they won't be able to afford college anyways. When I lived in the Northern states, there were few African-Americans (at least where I lived), and was naive to the racism that occurs. However, when I moved down south, where the African-American population is great, I could indeed see the racism. It's very sad, and does affect students whose race is different. From experience, as an American of Hispanic decent, I can feel the racism, but it nowhere compares to the treatment and views of the African-Americans. Most people treat me as if I am Caucasian, even though I am only 1/2 white. It's sad, but what you have said is very true.

The problems you bring up in the text are very real, however, I feel as if you make too many assumptions and generalize too much.

The content and the underlying thoughts are good, but you're article needs some fine-tuning in terms of grammar and a short summarizing ending would do good.

This article was fast written so I'm not surprised if it needs any grammar corrections. I wrote this yesterday at 0100 hours CET, was quite tired at that time. See this article more as my thought then genral information.

rofl sorry but had to say this - american culture, now there's an interesting term ^^ i guess the strongest link in USA culture's chain is hamburgers, i mean if one country knows how to completely dodge healthy food then it's usa (just look at comments from the WCG in Seattle..."food sucked", "fast food only", "food sucked some more", etc. , you gotta respect such a culture.

native americans had a rich culture (rules upon it was based are still something modern world can not even dream about), modern usa is product of a mixture of lowest levels of european society and greatest minds that ran away from their home countries+a few "thousands" of hispanic immigrants :)

If force won't work, use greater force.

Poor students have many chances to go to school.

Low income families can go to school for a much lower price than others. You can join the military, you can work hard and get a scholarship for good grades, you can save up money with a job, etc etc.

Every person has the ability to persue an education, it just depends how much you're willing to work for it.

The drugs issue is important because it deals with racism as well. All drugs should be legalized due to health, economic, and philosophic reasons. But on topic, it is tearing the black community and inner cities apart. Blacks are 14% of USA, but make up 44% of the prisons, even though there are more white stoners, than black stoners.

The judicial system is racist and will prosecute blacks more than whites.

In conclusion, everyone can go to school and legalize recreational drugs.
