myMYM.The1Crow: More then two weeks after the ESWC Masters we meet again now, you are in Poland, I am in Copenhagen. How deep is the tragedy from Paris still anchored in your head?
- MYM|Neo: Tomorrow we are leaving for Korea, so to be honest I am not thinking about the past at all, but right now I am just trying to focus only on the upcoming e-Stars event. Of course it is still somewhere in my mind that we will not be able to go to San Jose, but well, there is nothing you can do about it, so I will just have to deal with it.
Can you remember your first thoughts directly after the last match in Paris?
- We were told by the admins that there is still a chance that we could qualify because of the small rounds, so we had some hope at the beginning. But after a while we were informed that we are out, so yeah, then we became sad.
I saw fans standing behind you guys watching the last game. Some of them were keep standing there for a while after the game was over and seemed very disenchanted. How do you feel about them?
- In both matches we started really, really good having scores such as 7:1, 6:0, and then 'something' happened and in both cases we lost like 7:8 or something like that. That was probably more shocking for our fans, than for us I guess, and I assume that is what made them stand there a little bit longer maybe. Probably it was our friends standing behind us, trying to cheer us up a little.
After you came home from Paris, did you talk again with the other guys about the matches?
- At first we didn't want to, but it was obvious that we just had to do it. You have to talk about your mistakes, find them and of course correct everything, so you will not do the same stupid things again. After we came home and started training again, we decided not to change that much, because we played really well in our opinion, there was just that certain 'something' that was missing.

MYM|Neo during the warm up in Paris at ESWC Masters
After the game TaZ said he doesn't know what really went wrong. Do you have an explanation now?
- A few of us in the team think that it is perharps too much self-confidence after the Dreamhack victory in Sweden, the other few think it is because we underestimated our opponents, other people even think it's some different reasons. On GotFrag they wrote about us saying that emotion is our strength, but also our weakness. To be honest, I think there is some truth about it, because when we start losing it is always at least five rounds in a row, and it is hard for us to win back. So probably, the truth is - as always - somewhere in the middle, so I don't exactly know what is it. Probably all of it played its role in Paris.
Is there too much pressure on you guys from sponsors or the management of your team? Fans also have big expectations in you - is that a kind of pressure that affects you?
- Our management does not pressurize us, but we know that we are required to perform as we are under MYM. Hence, there would still be a bit of pressure naturally. I don't know what my teammates think about it, but I try not to think about it when we are in game during the tournament. But sometimes, I still get a little pressured, since everyone expects us to win, and it is not always as easy as it should be.
How important was the fact that the luggage got lost during the flight? eSports - a mind game?
- I think that on such a high level, a lot depends on your morale and mind condition during the event. Probably our lost luggage had influence on our performance during ESWC Masters. Even if it is not such a big difference between the hardware, you still have in mind, that you are using something else. Yeah, so I guess it was kind of important.

MYM in Copenhagen before Dreamhack Summer 2008
Did the ESWC Paris 2008 made it to your list of the biggest upsets in your career?
- I experienced so many upsets in my career already, that this one became not so much annoying as it might look like. I remember events like WEG in Korea, where we had Begrip and Catch-Gamer (1st and 2nd place at the event) in the group, and against both teams we were winning 11:3 (Begrip) and 11:6 (Catch-Gamer) I think, and both lost 11:13. Then I remember matches like... where we were winning the first half 10:2 and then losing 1:11 anyways in the end.
Of course that is still one of my biggest upsets in my career, but when I look back, I got kind of used to it I guess, and it is easier to deal with it, because I have already learnt how to do it.
MYM.Seules won at the Masters the female tournament. Did it help to put back a smile on your face when you saw them wining?
- Of course, I felt happy for them, but well, that didn't put back a smile uppon my face. We lost, and I was only thinking about us and no one else in that moment.
But it is always nice to have more friends in your team, MYM.Seules were supporting us until the end and we are very thankful for that - we all wish them good luck in San Jose. It was not the first time we have met them and hopefully there will be more occasions to hang out again.
As you said before, you just ready for eStars Korea. Will that event show us that MYM got over the ESWC issue?
- We had a small break after ESWC, so we just played a little bit to get back on the track. We did not change much, just talked and tried to correct our mistakes from ESWC, where we played good in my opinion. And as always, time will show, it is CS :]
What do you think about the event in general and especially about the very special play system?
- I didn't think much about it yet, I will see in Korea how it is, and then I can say something about it. I guess we will have to see how that system will work, seems interesting though.
On which level do you see the Asian, and especially the Korean Counter-Strike scene?
- Actually I don't follow the Korean (or Asian) Counter-Strike scene that much. I just know a few teams which participate in some events outside Asia. So to be honest I cannot say much about them. I expect that the ones playing at e-Stars are very good and so it will be a tough event.
Lately a movie about you was announced here at myMYM.com. How does it feel to get something like that and what do you expect from the movie?
- I can't wait to see the final version of the movie, and it feels nice that someone wants to make one of me. I already cooperated with Aziz (the movie maker), gave him some demos which I thought they might be useful, hopefully with his moviemaking skills we will see something really nice, hehe.
