Rekrut.ru Championship 2008
The last event for Counter-Strike 1.6 in 2008 will be the Rekrut.ru Championship in Moscow - the new Russian e-Sports portal will give away 30,000$ in prize money. Although the organization announced a prize money cut of 18% the last days, several known teams have accepted the invitation.
Two days of Counter-Strike will determine the winning team that grabs a prize money of 9,840$. On Saturday a public tournament will be held for semi-professional teams and the chance to get one of the six spots for the main tournament on Sunday and an additional amount of 6,000$.
Ten teams have been invited to the main tournament: Besides the local favourites 
Virtus.Pro and 
A-Gaming we will see the World Cyber Games champion 
mTw.dk, the rivals 
k23 and 
Team Alternate and 
Team Gameplay.
Especially Team Alternate could save the year 2008 with a succesfull tournament - WCG and EPS Finals have been a disaster and the international glory of 2007 seems to be gone. myMYMs BeeemIt analyzed the situation in his article "Alternate: Russia for the change?".
