First let me dedicate the next few sentences to the 2 "DOTA DOTA BIATCHES YAAH". Let me say this, without those two people, Gunz and Puppey, Dreamhack would have never been so much fun and exciting. Just those two made it possible, and they really are two special persons. And just so that you know, they are not as stupid as you think they are if you read their comments or saw them in this video interview.
They are not at all, but yeah how could you know if you just see some online acting hehe. There would be so soooo many things I could write about them, but let just me extend A BIG BIG THAAAANK YOU Puppey and Gunz for the talks, shots, dinner, dance and just everything haha. Don't forget, we will meet each other again in Amsterdam!

We actually wanted to make weird-faces, but they missed it. So we had to take a new one.
And this is how it looks like! Puppey and Me suck compared to Gunzi though.

Soth, Gunz, Puppey, TMA, Visarka and Me at Jensens
Anyway, if you are thinking right now (or already thought so at the first part) when I am going to start with the tournament, dota and event part. I won't really go into the details, because there is just simply not much to write for me. The part about the event is not worth writing for me; it was just boring and yeah, boring? Of course it is nice to watch a few games here and there but sometimes we didn't even had the time to watch a game because we had to update the coverage.
And that is not easy as it sounds, since Gosugamers didn't really had a coverage overview about what was going on in the tournament, just the brackets and sometimes they had slight delays with updating, so we had to go to the players and ask them about the results and if they could save the replay and send them to us if possible, since Gosugamers didn't upload any.
But yeah, you can imagine that it is kind of annoying, since we were all not sitting next to each other and had to run back and forth to get updates and results, that's why it was simply just too hard to keep the community updated with play-by-play.
There were just streams for the final games, so we didn't have a chance to watch the stream in the hall and make live updates. Then, we thought of just sitting behind the players and update as good as we can, but that of course means you won't see the hero scores, since you just see it from the players perspective zou are sitting behind, for example on GGTV, you can just control the mouse yourself, and scroll where you want to watch etc. but if you sit behind the players, you are only able to see from their perspective. Then, it is of course harder to update it from an observer's point of view.
That already gave us problems, since we couldn't really see who from the opponents team played which hero, since you just see the heroes from the team you are sitting behind and have to wait for them to click on the certain hero, because you cannot ask them all the time: "Hey, can you please show us the hero score?" or "Who is playing this or that hero". They needed to focus on their game and that's of course understandable. But well yeah it was hard to update it from our point because there was nothing covered on the site where they should have had coverage about it. We tried our best, but it could have never been as good as if you would have been able to watch streams. But let's hope that it is better on Dreamhack Summer.

TMA and Visarka working.
The only games we watched were were the semi-finals between Mouz and SK, and then the finals of MYM vs SK. And - wow, sitting behind Mouz.KuroKy when he was playing Broodmother was sooooooo boring, just ricing and yeah seing him last hitting, so that is not much of action. I don't say he is a bad player or anything just stating how it is to watch a farmer as an observer. But for the 2nd game it was more interesting to see him playing with Tinker where he in the end tried to carry the game. Should have probably switched the place and sitting behind the gankers, but the MYM players sat there already!
Anyway, watching the finals, sitting behind Pusher and MaNia-, was really nice, just action around the map when MaNia- played Pudge, and sitting behind MYM players is a bit different than for example sitting behind Mouz players at that time. MYM Players are screaming like CS players do. When they kill someone they scream, if they need to cheer up and motivate the team they scream at each other to push themselves. And that's just more interesting, it's like there is life behind the game, not just, yeah, playing and get it over with, you just noticed more that they felt the game. I tried to record it a few times when they did scream, to put it in the video-interview with Maelk at the end, for the viewers to see, how it is. But I don't think it succeeded, since you just can't capture things like that.
Part of the Dreamhack Hall, it looks everywhere the same anyway, but this was the B hall, with SK-gaming sitting in the second row of the picture.
But yeah you know what? Dreamhack smells, seriously, so many smelly people/geeks/nerds/weirdos and whatever you want to call them in one place, in a big big dark hall with no air conditioning or anything FF. I think it is most likely because there is no shower place if you have to sleep at Dreamhack for straight 4 days and just eat unhealthy food, but can't say too much about that, since i never experienced it, just heard it for example from Gunz and many more :D. But the people that experienced it, were happy about a night at the floor in a hotel room with shower, hehe.
Also, you lose the sense of time, because you are just sitting in the dark hall all the time from morning till late night, and yeah as I said the food is very very bad there; just fast food and some other bad stuff, which is not worth mentioning. But that was one of the reasons why we didn't eat anything the whole day until late at night when we got out of Dreamhack to eat at Jensens, hehe.
Visarka with I don't know who, but someone weird hehe.

I look like a thai-hooker next to him, compared to Visarka's picture right, Gunzi?
Twistd, Gunz, Puppey and mickenorlen and 0tso.
But yeah, to finally end this long blog, it was a hell lot of fun and thank you all for the great time I had. Sorry about not writing too much about the DotA and Tournament part, but as i said, there isn't really much to say about that. Just wanted to share that you can really meet people from who you have never thought you would end up to be friends with.

The most fun and sweet people I have ever met!
I bet you noticed already that somehow Gunz and Puppey are always making the same poses.

Jonas(illumize), Gunz, Puppey, Kevin and Me.

Nice blog though, altough ur not too positive about DH itself hehe, but I can imagine. Funny you call RotterdaM by his irl name and Puppy and Gunz just... Puppy and Gunz. Last edited by Subse7enz at 02.12.2008, 23:10

It's always fun to read about peoples experience when it comes to things like this, so thanks for some nice reading!
Anyway, don't wanna be pecky here but there are shower rooms at DreamHack so it's more like ppl are lazy (or w/e you wanna call it); the option to take a shower whenever you want it is there. And about the food; there are usually some restaurants at DH with at least better food than the usual fast food. I heard from someone that those restaurants were at DH this time too. And if there would be fast food there only.. It's not so strange, do ppl really think there would be some kind of gourmet food there? Just wanted to say that! :) But like I said too it's nice reading, so keep it up. | |

Good read. I actually thought the detail of adding some clips from the actual MYM game worked really well, and understanding danish, kinda hillarius ("lol they can't touch me"). GJ :)

Quoting RotterdaM: Rotterdam - Generally sad (chaggerijnig, dunno exact translation) people, always get into fights with foreigners when I'm there rofl.. Amsterdam - People from the whole world, a shitload of coffeeshops, and a red light district (not that I'm a visitor, it's still fun to watch) Brabant's even better though... And then there's shitty Zeeland where I live, so ur still better off than me. Go Amsterdam before they illegalize Weed again though, cause that's coming. ;-) Last edited by Subse7enz at 03.12.2008, 23:41
