Congratulations on your victory. How do you feel being the new world champion and the dark horse of this tournament?
I'm ecstatic to win this tournament. I never considered myself to be the darkhorse of this tournament, but I'm even happier now that you called me a dark horse. It really shows that hardwork pays off.
Before ESWC started, I thought that either Lyn or Sky will win this year, because they are really committed to the game and they are in great shape at the moment.
Earlier you said that you aim to finish fourth, but now you managed to win the whole event. Did you even expected it at all?
Not at all. I never even imagined myself winning this tournament.
Would you consider yourself as a top player now?
I still don't think I qualify to be a world-class player yet. Lyn is still a better Orc player than me, and I still believe that I am living under his shadow most of the time.
How would you rate Sky's performance in the Grand Finals?
He played truly like a top player. However, I think I won the game because I prepared a lot against the MK strategy before flying over here, and I anticipated Sky to use that strategy as well.
How did you prepare against the MK strategy? Do you think that it is that effective against Orcs?
Nothing special, I know that the MK is very vulnerable to harrasements and agressive play, so I tried to do an all-in rush against him, which proved to work out nicely.
What did you do after you found out that Sky will be your opponent would in the Grand Finals?
I tried to control my nerves and visually imagine the strategy that I will use against him in the finals. I'm glad it worked out really well for me.
What are you planning to do with the US$12,000 prize-money?
First of all, I'll take my family and friends to a scrumptious meal and then I plan to save the rest.

mTw-whO with his massive prize cheque
During the first groupstage, Bonecracker surprised everyone by finish ing first in his group. What happened in those games between you and him?
The jetlag had such a huge impact on my games on the first day, and it really affected me a lot. I didn't know much about Bonecracker and his abilities, so I was really surprised when we played against each other. However, I was totally not satisfied with my performance on the first day.. Bonecracker is a good player though.
You also lost to Grubby in the second groupstage. Tell me what was going through your mind as you played him.
I wanted to win so badly because I really wanted to make it to the top 8. I was very disappointed after I lost to him.
There are plenty of surprising results in this tournament. Would you agree that the playing conditions of this tournament have affected the outcome at all? Why?
It is a little inconvenient that we used wide-screen monitors in the tournament, but I'm happy that everyone had the same monitor, so we were in it together. Overall, I'm still satisfied with the tournament.
Any final words?
I'm really happy to win this year's ESWC, but it's a great pity that the finals of ESWC2008 was much smaller than the previous one.

You're right WhO, in the USA the ESWC finals was smaller than the French one...
in France, the ESWC is a really important event... Why? because a lot of guys from each country can come (in train or car) for example Germany/Spain/GB/(Russia).... I was really disapointed when I learnt ESWC finals were in the USA... afterall USA have a lot of events (for example E3) ... Unbelievable to see the ESWC going to the USA and having not more visitors.... and the "palais omnisport de Bercy" rocks! ^^ Last edited by j0ebrique at 29.08.2008, 11:49

I'm guessing they weren't allowed to tweak the registry values to make the game resolution widescreen compatible since WC3 doesn't have native widescreen support.

Actually, as soon as you set the resolution to a decent value in WC3, it just made black bars on the sides, so to me it didn't seem to make a difference. We also managed to make the monitors make black boxes on the top and bottom if you used a lower resolution, so as long as we could understand the pla

Man... when will people learn what "Fixes Aspect Ratio" is :|
Works for me at least on my wide screen when I play on it and set the resolution to what I want. anyway Nice Interview :) Seems like he has confidence in his game which is good but the fact that he doesn't consider himself world class yet, imo, makes him even more deadly for the future. | |
