You are in supreme form at the moment. How did you practice for this year’s ESWC?
After the first visa application failed, I expected that my second visa would be rejected as well, so I thought I wouldn’t be coming at all and I didn’t really practice. However, after I found out that my second visa went through, I had about four days to practice.
I guess it’s also because of the tournament system that I managed to perform so well.
What kind of special strategies have you prepared for this event?
Not really, since four days are simply not enough if you want to make a substantial strategy. I’ve only used the time to practice against the various strategies that I might face at this ESWC.
How much did the jetlag affected your games today?
Actually, there was almost no jetlag for me at all since I have a messed up body clock in China as well. I practice from evening till dawn and sleep during the rest of the day.
Prior to the event, what were your chances to win this year's ESWC?
I guess there was only a 1% chance for me to win it, because I didn’t have enough time to prepare for this tournament. Currently, my Night elf and HU vs HU match-up is not that good. I also think that it requires a lot of luck if I have to win this year’s ESWC.
You also had HoT in your first group. From a scale of 0-10, how difficult would you him?
I’ll give him and myself a 9. For me, Moon and Sky are 10/10 players.
You won against Bonecracker, the player who managed to surprise everyone in the first groupstage by winning against whO, Sonke and Wolf. What are your thoughts about him?
I saw some of his matches after he won against mTw-whO, and he uses really funny strategies. But I realized that normal strategies will work best against him.
You lost to SaSe in the second groupstage as well.
In the first game on TM, I started out pretty good with lots of harassements. However, there was once where I didn’t have a TP and after that I was constantly creepjacked.
The second match was on EI, where he played a normal strategy. I decided to use a fairly new strategy of MK with riflemen vs NE. But it proved not to work out well enough.
What are your thoughts about the Chinese being grouped in the lower part of the brackets?
Well it’s not a big deal that we have to play against each other. I’m more happy to see all three of us qualifying in top8, so there is a bigger chance that a Chinese will win this year’s ESWC.
You lost to Sky in the quarter-finals. What was going through your mind?
The first match was a Human mirror - MK vs MK. It was pretty easy for me since Sky played towers with air units and I had to counter it accordingly. In the end, I had 80 food and finished the game easily.
In the next 2 matches, I used NE which didn’t really work out. The last match on TM I tried a dual AoW rush, but I shouldn’t have let my DH to learn Mana Burn.
What kind of lessons have you learnt from this tournament?
I don’t think so; I don’t really learn anything from tournament matches.
