Ro16 Week 2 - part 2

OSL

Part 2 of the Incruit OSL Week 2 promises some interesting games, since we have the likes of Flash, Much, BeSt or Sea here. Let's just see if fame will do them any good:

Incruit OSL Round of 16
Terran FlaSh
vs.Protoss Much[gm] Chupung Ryeong
Protoss BeStvs.Protoss Rock Medusa
Zerg TheZergvs.Terran Mind Return of the King
Protoss BackHovs.Terran Sea[Shield] Plasma

The first game between Terran Flash and Protoss Much was quite anticipated, as both players are extremely solid in this matchup. Much tried a proxy Robotics which unfortunately got scouted by Flash. From that point on, it all went downhill for Much: he tried a Reaver/Dragoon/Zealot/Carrier combo who was too expensive and easily countered by Flash who simply attacked his way to Much's main base. Flash > Much.

Protoss BeSt and Protoss Rock were up next on the 3 player map Medusa. While BeSt went for a fast tech to Dragoons and then Reavers, Rock decided to go for early pressure and containment, pumping Dragoons from 4 Gateways. While at one point BeSt had to use Probes to compensate for his lack of ground forces, he quickly bounced back in the game, after deflecting the attack and breaking the contain. What followed was quite painful for Rock, as he had only a few Dragoon to defend against a seizable Dragoon/Reaver force that was marching straight to his base. BeSt > Rock.

Game 3 of today's series had Terran Mind and Zerg TheZerg going at it. With TheZerg being a new but fierce Zerg player, and Mind's TvZ being not exactly top-notch, this looked quite promising for both sides. TheZerg opted for a standard 12Hatch expo opening, while Mind got a little greedy and went Barracks-Command Center, hoping to take this to the late stages of the game. Unfortunately for him, TheZerg had other plans, as he quickly amassed a Zergling/Lurker army and overrun Mind's poorly defended expo, crushing the Terran force and forcing Mind to type out. TheZerg > Mind.

The last game of this week was between Terran Sea and Protoss BackHo on Plasma. While both started out quite standard, Sea's first Vulture drop was devastating and BackHo's drop was embarrassingly weak; this sent Sea ahead of BackHo by a great deal. From that point on, the macro war began and BackHo kept losing battles, slowly going down. Sea > BackHo.
