e-Stars Seoul 2008 Continental Cup
e-Stars Seoul is set to return this year for its second iteration following an eventful success last year. This year however, the organization has adopted a different style of tournament for the first time in e-sports' history.
Teams and players have been divided into 2 categories - East and West. While players from East are from Korea and China, West representatives hail from all over Europe; France, Sweden, Ukraine and Poland.
The tournament system is broken down into 2 phases. In Warcraft 3, both teams will first go head-to-head in a Deathmatch system, which is much similar to NGL's format of "winner stays, loser goes out".
After that, teams will continue to duke it out in a Threesome system, where each player froma team goes up against another from the opposing team in a designated map. The scores will be added up to determine the final winner.

While the coach from the winning team gets to bring home US$2,000, the other coach will have to settle for US$1,000. The remaining prize-money is divided as follows:
WC3 Prize-money segregation
Each player from winning team - US$4,000
Each player from losing team - US$2,000
CS Prize-money segregation
Each team from the overall winning team - US$12,000
Each team from the overall losing team - US$6,000

Interesting touranement format. It is a shame a lot of the matchups won't be known ahead of time.
As long as it doesnt result in excessive mirror matches it should be fine. I can't see West being East though : ) | |
