This semifinal was definitely special for all the StarCraft fans, as it was a big test for a big player: July had to prove himself and his fans that he did not get here by sheer luck. With some impressive results as of late, BackHo was definitely not the underdog; after all, he did manage to eliminate JaeDonG from this OSL so he truly was a worthy opponent for the God of War.

The maps for this semifinal were said to be a little towards the Zerg side, but not as much as to actually influence a game between two similarly skilled players; however, this must have given July some more confidence than the one he already had, not to mention the motivation that he must have had while thinking about the elusive Golden Mouse.

After 4 exciting matches, the God of War triumphed, which is definitely something that every StarCraft nostalgic appreciated: seeing an old gosu come back to life.

With the second semifinal over, we now have the two players who will battle it out in the OSL Grand Finals next Saturday, on July 12th: STX SouL’s July and SK Telecom T1’s BeSt. Will July finally get that Golden Mouse or will the new Protoss star shine bright? We can only wait and see.
