One could say that this game ended fairly. WE is placed 2nd, fnatic is placed 4th. A slight win to the higher ranked team seems logical. As for who’s performance deserve praise or scorn...
Space spaced out a bit during the TM game. Going for fiends is risky in itself. You might be able to end the game quickly, but if you lose your momentum (like he did) the elf can use expos to walk all over you. Best not to combine risky strategies with risky maneuvers.
FoCuS made a great mistake on LT when he failed to cancel TeD’s expansion. If Sase can do it so should FoCuS. He also managed to make it worse for himself by pushing the expo with demolishers, giving TeD a situation he could control rather than creeping heavily and expoing, something TeD could’ve done little to nothing about.
Shy for a moment looked like a lower level player who has just discovered a new tactic. Rather than using shadow strike where it could've very well have saved him in both game 1 and game 2 he kept using fan of knives to no avail. On this level of play one should always be prepared to change tactics if the situation calls for it.
The 2s team of WE needs to think up better ways to play orc/ud if that’s what they are going for. You cannot rely on micro in 2s; a powerful strategy is far more important. What ways can orc and undead abilities combine to make an unstoppable tidal wave; that is what they must figure out now.
As for praise, I have a great deal for suhO. His micro was superb, and he was constantly moving and thinking. Where a normal player sees only one path he saw at least two. An example is where he in the second game power-crept his panda while clearing an expansion with his BM, thus tricking Space into not checking for expos there until it was already finished.
Praise also goes out to TeD for coming back strong after losing the first game in a ud vs orc-match. Like a high-jumper he adjusted the timing only slightly in the second game and that gave him the win.
Still, both teams remain mysterious. Sure, they both have skilled players, but neither team is sittin’ safely at their current ranks. Harder games await, and whichever team manages to fix their weaknesses in time for them will be the one to claim a playoff spot. It could be both, it could be neither, but it will be interesting to see what will happen to these skilled teams.
