So close yet...

So Close, Yet So Far

As you can see with some of these teams, the management and players take WC3 a bit less seriously than many fully professional teams such as MYM, GG or SK. The issue across the board seems to be the players form, because many of the players are not fully professional and have other obligations such as work and school that prevent them from a rigorous practice schedule. Especially in the case of Delta, it seems that many players are in top form at different times.

Each team has had their problems with players leaving to other, more professional or better paying organizations, and their sponsor backing is not enough financially to buy players like many European organizations can afford to do. Still all through this, players in each team have a huge sense of community with one another and the common theme is that all just love to play the game - but unlike some of their professional counterparts, the game is only a small window into their lives.

Even though each of these teams comes close to the top so many times, one has to wonder if they can ever really make it at the top with this casual approach. I guess only time will tell. I for one wish them luck.

Note: Article was finished just hours before Delta announced the release of its WC3 team - the title of this squad, "Keepers of Destruction", is not indicated in this article.
