A moment with GeT_RiGhT

We here at myMYM.com have managed to get hold of former Ninjas in Pyjamas and SK-player Sweden Christopher 'GeT_RiGhT' Alesund for a chat one week before the world's biggest gaming and computer festival takes place, namely DreamHack Summer 2008. Christopher is currently playing for a team that calls themselves Blank, which also includes these players:

Sweden Fredrik 'JAEGARN' Andersson
Sweden Johan 'face' Klasson
Sweden Niklas 'Nikolaus' Johansson
Sweden Rasmus 'GuX' Ståhl

Hello Christopher! Could you start by giving the readers a brief introduction about yourself?

Hello everyone! My name is Christopher Alesund going under the alias GeT_RiGhT. I did just turn 18 years old, I'm a boy from a small town near Stockholm called 'Spånga' and on my sparetime I just try to complete my last tasks in the school and try to be with the homies, and of course sit at the computer.

You first got into gaming as a player, creating a household name in the modern professional Counter-Strike scene by playing for teams such as Begrip and Ninjas in Pyjamas. Could you tell us about your time in Begrip?

Well, I didn't feel like a top player back in Begrip. I just played and had fun with the players. There was some downhills and uphills in the team, but everything was alright in it. My time overall was the kick from being an "internet player" to a "lan player" from my point of view. From the time in begrip everyone thought I cheated online and sucked offline, but I think I just showed them that they were wrong about it.

GeT_RiGhT at Lundalan in SwedenYou are currently playing for team Blank that qualified for ESWC Sweden through a tournament held at the gamingcafé Inferno Online in Stockholm, and succeeded to the final.
How did you react when fnatic gave walk-over in the final?

Well, we wanted to play the game versus fnatic to see how good they really were. Most of it because we have avoided playing against them online and it should be fun to see how they perform offline. But when I think of it, it was quite okey from them leaving WO because they just wanted to come home to Gothenburg or wherever they live.

It's approximately one week left until DreamHack Summer 2008 is taking place, bringing the Swedish ESWC Qualifier along with it. You'll enter the competition with players such as face and JAEGARN, how have your team prepared?

We have been practising online non-stop for more then a month now just for this event, we have some free days etc. From Wednesday next week, before travelling to dreamhack, we will start our bootcamp to add the small things that we are doing wrong, example adding more perfect rounds that can make us win even more rounds. Overall I think we can win the whole tournament if it's our day, and if face is on fire. ;)

Two of Sweden's top teams will also be there, in this case SK Gaming and fnatic. I'm going to let you make a comparison between your team and the professional teams. What's your opinion on team Blank's strengths and weaknesses compared to others?

Professional teams like SK and fnatic have been on the scene for a long time now and they know that they need to win a qualification and big tournaments like ESWC, WCG and so on. If you look at our team (blank), we are a young, fresh team that can do more damange in the qualifer and more in future tournaments. Our strengths are that we can come from a 1onX or even 2onX situation and win that round, including that we can turn a match over from having 10-14 score to 16-14.

How do you think you'll cope with the pressure of performing at DreamHack Summer 2008 and other events, with highly numerous spectators and fans?

I don't really think of it like that, most of the time I don't get nervous before the tournament and therefore just try to relax by not thinking of mistakes that you can do. But I'm not nervous at all for DHS08 to perform. I know that we will do fine :)

GeT_RiGhT for SK GamingWorld GameMaster Tournament along with the DreamHack organizers will hold a competition with a fairly high prize pool, and international teams such as mibr and mTw will attend. Is your team going to participate as well? If not, why?

We will not attend the WGT-Tournament. Most of us got money issuses and we want to focus more on the ESWC Qualifer then that tournament. We don't have anything against the tournament at all, but all we want is to focus on the ESWC Qualifer.

You are saying that it prevails an economical issue, hasn't team Blank thought of being picked up by an organization for future events?

We will not pay the DreamHack attending ourselves, it's a secret person that comes with money and help us with it. But we have talked with some organizations about it and we thought it will be better if we talk more after the ESWC Qualifer and see where we will go.

Where do you see the Counter-Strike scene in five years, and what will you be doing by then?

I don't know for sure, we can wait and see five years later if I'm still playing in some way or I've quit.

Thank you for the interview and good luck in the future!
