With SK Gaming and Meet Your Makers, we have probably the most stable and consistent teams in the last year in the Warcraft 3 Scene. Ever since SK acquired Lyn, Soju, Remind and Reign, MYM and SK have gone back and forth in WC3L and NGL finals. The last 2 WC3L grand finals and last NGL Final were SK v MYM. How incredible is that?
Maybe the interest of the matchup is how even the teams are and how similar. Each team with its own Superstar, for MYM it's
Moon, for SK its
Lyn. Consistent players like
Susiria,
Reign,
Miou and
Soju, strong wildcard players like
Remind,
Grubby and
Lucifer.
The core players of MYM has remained constant for over a year. Although there has been some additions and subtractions,
Focus and
Shy from Go/fnatic and
Storm in and out of activity, Moon, Lucifer and Susiria have been staples in MYM's lineup. Their 2v2 teams have also been a thing of absolute consistency and domination. In the past Seasons Susiria / Lucifer and Soju / Remind have been the most feared 2v2 in the WC3L.
What ends up being an uncertainty is the shape of their star player Moon. When Moon is in practice, he seems to be able to beat any player on any map, but there are other times where Moon struggles when he is out of practice. His success is increasingly tied to the success of his team. Recently, MYM hasn't been as dependent on Moon because of the addition of Moon's longtime rival Grubby, who has been a top player for many years.
The core of SK players have remained together, whether in World Elite or SK for well over a year now. They know each other's strenths and weaknesses, and by now,
Reis knows how to adjust their lineups to counter other teams just based on their own experience. What's scary about SK is that their players are still getting better. Lyn finally hit his peak last season winning countless matches, tournaments and was honored by WC3L for his performance. However, the team as a whole just keeps getting better.
With these 2 powerhouses, you may as well flip a coin to determine the winner, which is what makes the matchup so interesting. They seem even at almost every position and matchup. Remind and Lucifer, Soju and Susiria, Moon and Lyn - these players have played against each other enough times to know several of their strategies and how they play each other, yet its still exciting everytime. What also makes this intriguing is that the players and managers seem confident in their players in whatever matchups they get. At this point, the matches have gone back and forth so many times that all players know anyone can win. It all comes down to the games.
