One of the most anticipated matches happened last night where 2 teams, CJ Entus and MBCgame HERO battled it out to play against Lecaf OZ for round 2 finals for ProLeague.

 

Game 1 – Yum Bo Sung (Sea) vs Kim Sung Ki (DarKeLf) – Map: Monty Hall SE

This is a very good match up since these 2 Terran players are very strong and they are very consistent. So far I haven’t seen them in a slump at all lately and it’s probably because they are young blooded professionals. DarKeLf has impressed many people because of his constant wins from his ace matches. Time to put that experience to the test against Sea who is a very strong Terran player of MBCgame HERO. This has to be one of the longest games since it runs about 40 minutes with a lot of drops from dropships to each other’s bases. The battles in this game are very exciting where both players are fighting back to back and it was hard to tell who was in the lead. One of the memorable parts of this game was when DarKeLf was losing and he launched an all out attack on Sea’s right side expansion where DarKeLf managed to occupied that expansion, which caused Sea’s economy to run slower. The battles took heavy losses from each side with heavy bombardment from the siege tanks. In this game, Sea decided to produce more wraiths than goliaths, but DarKeLf produced more goliaths to counter those wraiths. Soon Sea mobilized a large amount of his troops and advanced towards DarKeLf’s main base and laid siege to it. DarKeLf tried his best to defend, but the number of tanks that Sea had was too overwhelming, which caused DarKeLf to admit defeat.

 

Game 2 - Park Ji Ho (PuSan) vs Han Sang Bong (Kwanro) – Map: Baekmagoji

Not much to say about this match, but Kwanro really impressed me with this strategy. He took the advantage of using the neutral creep to build a sunken colony outside of PuSan’s base and the sunken colony destroyed 1 photon cannon and decimated PuSan’s troops while Kwanro’s zerglings wrecked havoc inside PuSan’s base. This win made the score 1:1 a tie between the 2 teams.

 

Game 3 - Kim Dong Hyun (Saint) & Lee Jae Ho (Light) vs Ma Jae Yoon (sAviOr) & Son Jae Byum (Nbs[gm]) – Map: Hwangsanbul

This match was awesome with constant attacks from all players. There was never a dull moment since there were mutalisk fights between sAviOr and Saint. Besides that there were a lot of Terran vs Protoss fights like dark templars killing marines off guard with no detection. Or Light running back and forth because sAviOr and Nbs did attacks at the same time, which made the MBC team confused at times. When the CJ Entus team took the offensive it spelled doom for the MBC partners, but somehow Light was massing up marines and attacked Nbs’ base and caused a lot of damage and crippled the Protoss. Then Light made another army of marines and 3 tanks and attacked sAviOr’s base. The 2 CJ Entus players were too weak after the attack and they both typed GG. Can you say Light to the rescue?

 

Game 4 - Kim Taek Yong (Bisu) vs Byun Hyung Tae (Iris) – Map: Katrina

This was the match that I’ve been waiting for a couple of days. A match between the Ninja Toss and the Terran Berserker. The game started off with Bisu going with early dragoon with the range upgrade. Meanwhile Iris was pumping out vultures and tanks for his army. Iris does a vulture drop in between Bisu’s main base and expansion. The vultures race to Bisu’s main mineral line and Iris managed to kill off some probes. The attack could have been more efficient, but Bisu blocked the entrance with a robotics facility, which gave the vultures a hard time to go through. Iris made a fatal mistake, which was not having a comsat or missile turrets to detect Bisu’s dark templar. This caused Iris to take out all his scvs from his main base to his expansion. By the time Iris got some detection buildings up it was too late since Bisu was already producing arbiters and had a good amount of zealots and dragoons. Iris tried to do another vulture raid, but Bisu had a wall of buildings blocking the vultures from attacking the probes. Iris sees that Bisu’s defense and army surpassed his so he takes a deep breath and typed GG.

 

                              

Game 5 - Ko Seok Hyun (HyuN) vs Park Yeong Min (Much) – Map: Blue Storm

Much had some amazing psi storms in this game. His accuracy is very impressive and almost as good or up to par with Reach’s accuracy on psi storms. Watching this match reminded me the movie Alien vs Predator since most of the battles were between zealots and zerglings. Like the earlier matches, this match had a lot of battles and it was very exciting and you can hear the audience going nuts when Much cast psi storms on the Zerg units. After battle that was fought was always in favor of Much and it HyuN focused too much on zerglings instead of other units. The psi storms decimated the zerglings before they can reach their target. HyuN then typed GG after he lost all of his units in the last fight against Much’s archon + zealot army.

 

 

Game 6 - Kang Gu Yeol (910) & Jung Yung Chul (TheZerg) vs Jang Yook (hOyA) & Ju Hyun Jun (Memory) – Map: Seongangil

Just like DarKeLf having the magic touch of winning most of his ace matches, hOyA and Memory are a force to be reckoned with. They are a strong 2v2 pair and they have great chemistry inside and outside the game. This match made the fans, players and coaches nervous since if CJ Entus wins this it would go into an ace match. This was pretty much a mirror game since 910 went to attack hOyA’s base while memory went to attack TheZerg’s base. Then 910 sent about 7-8 goliaths to attack Memory’s base when Memory was busy attacking. Memory only had 2 goliaths and 1 tank to defend his base, but Memory’s micro was too strong for 910 since his goliaths were destroyed by Memory’s scvs and goliaths. After the base attack, Memory went to 910’s base for some revenge and laid siege with siege tanks. Soon the MBC players typed GG because TheZerg’s base and economy was too weak.

 

ACE MATCH - Yum Bo Sung (Sea) vs Kim Sung Ki (DarKeLf) – Map: Python

Time for a rematch between the Terran giants and this time it’s on Python. Before the game started you see Sea sitting there turning his head back and forth and wiping the sweat off his hands with a handkerchief, which looks like he is nervous. Compared to DarKeLf he just sitting straight up and drinking water and looks very calm. It’s no shocker since DarKeLf has played so many ace matches he’s use to this kind of pressure. Sea made a horrible mistake and that was to fast expand, which pretty much caused him the game. Instead of expanding early for DarKeLf, he decided to build a starport and produced a wraith. He then sent his troops consisting of about 4 marines, 2 tanks, 2 scvs, and 1 wraith to Sea’s expansion. Sea had about 2 tanks, 4 or 5 marines, and about 4 scvs at his expansion. Both players collide and DarKeLf’s marines shot down all of Sea’s scvs. The battle was in favor of DarKeLf since he killed off Sea’s scvs and his tanks couldn’t be repaired. DarKeLf advanced even further into Sea's base and he starts off by killing Sea's scvs. DarKeLf puts his tanks in siege mode and starts attacking Sea's factories. Seeing that he has lost, Sea types GG.
