PMS is the sponsor which picked up your female DotA team.
Could you give us a brief discription of the organization behind your team?
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
PMS Clan (Pandora's Mighty Soldiers) has been the best thing that has happened to me since I first picked up a video game. Honestly I had no idea they would be SO supportive. We were welcomed with open arms and they have done so much for us. Not only are they sending us to Fire in Ice in Chicago but a few of us have gone to a couple of events like Digital Life to meet up with other girls in PMS.
It has been amazing to meet girls that have the same passion as us. Having a sponsored all-girl team has been my DREAM ever since I first found out about competitive gaming, and everyday when I wake up I still feel like I'm living a dream. I have been counting down the days for when all of us will be united in Chicago :)
PMS, they just want to promote female gaming and provide a safe environment for them. They want to prove that girls can compete with guys and that we should feel comfortable with our lifestyle. :D
PMS^Miss-Sunie:
PMS Clan is filled with so many wonderful people, it's almost disturbing. It's really nice to meet people who want to promote females in gaming
How did you find this sponsorship?
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
Well PMS is famous in other games like counter strike and Halo. I saw them on tv and a few magazines, never imagined I'd be apart of it but I'm a go-getter so I made the initiative. My friend cassO (art director of gotfrag) is friends with Athena Twin (leader of PMS) and lives near her. The PMS organization saw articles of us on Gotfrag, sk-gaming etc and were interested. Casso forwarded my msn to Athena Twin and she messaged me. We talked briefly and she showed a lot of interest in our team. PMS has mostly console gamers and they've been wanting to expand their PC division. They felt we would be the best possible pickup for their PC division so they sponsored us almost immediately.
PMS^Miss-Sunie:
It was really exciting!
Do you prefer playing with females on your team opposed to males? Explain your answer please.
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
They're pretty much two different worlds....for me at least. I like to mix it up. I do love playing with guys, but I feel as if they don't trust me in game as much as my girls do. I definitely feel more confident and perform better when I'm playing with my team. Also Michelle is the funniest person EVER, this girl makes me die of laughter like everyday and we talk about the STUPIDEST things!
PMS^Miss-Sunie:
I really love playing with the girls on my team, they are all so sweet and amazing! But... If I had to pick between males of females though... I couldn't really. I try to judge who I play with by how they act. I can't stand people who talk a lot of garbage, or are jerks. I want DotA to be fun, I hate people who make something that is fun into something so negative.
And I don't talk about stupid things, only Neha does. >_>
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
You're such a liar dude. YOU TALK ABOUT QQCUMBERS! and CHICKEN WANGS!
PMS^Miss-Sunie:
QQcumbers are filled with nutrients, same with chicken wangs. D:*Cough*
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
roflhaha
PMS^Miss-Sunie:
hahaha
What are the advantages and/or disadvantages of being an all female team? If any what are they?
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
There is the obvious, we don't have to be insanely good and excel as much as guy teams to be sponsored. Girl teams definitely help advertise/promote games and always keeps the audience interested. There are always thorns on a rose though. For one, I feel like a lot of people don't take us seriously.
PMS^Miss-Sunie:
There is a lot of advantages to an all female team, but the one disadvantage that I see is the lack of female players. The pool of male players is very large, so it's easy to find the best. For an all female team, you really have to look hard. A lot of females don't like to even say that they are girls online for fear of negative judgement.
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
I feel like people just think we are there to have fun, though we are just as determined as teams like MYM. Also so much attention is not always a good thing, it gets annoying sometimes and we get a lot of stupid comments. Harassment is the worst....we just wanted to be treated like human beings. It’s nice to hear your perspective.
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
Yep... We have gotten so much negativity when people hear we get to travel and say stuff like "they don’t deserve it" etc. but I know people don't realize how MUCH we practice hahaha.
PMS^Miss-Sunie:
My life is eating, sleeping, and practice. Neha calls me all the time and yells at me even if I'm a minute late. D:
Yea what is your practice schedule like?
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
We have mandatory practices every tuesday and thursday at 9 pm EST. I take attendance. We play clan wars, lane controls (1v1's, 2v2's, 1v3's). We also watch and analyze replays together of all the top teams to try to learn new things.
I also put my team on an insane point system that includes attendance, skill, replay analyzing and playing games outside of practices with teammates =P
Other than our mandatory practices, we pretty much play together everyday.
PMS^Miss-Sunie:
It's like.. all the time, lol.
A lot of the girls are busy with full time jobs, and classes. It takes a lot of work for everyone to make it to all of the practices.
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
I've even told my friends "nope can't go out to dinner tonight, practice with my team!"Wow that's dedication!

I wonder how much she really practices considering she's a full-time university student AND works 35 hours a week :s I barely get time to play 3-4 hrs a day when im at university... let alone working somewhere as well. Last edited by RheSuS- at 24.12.2007, 14:06

Hmm, i study at an ENGINEERING university and i play games for like 5-6 hours some days. And moreover if you miss lectures and labs:P then you can find more time you know. After all anything is possible :)
IMO finding time in college studying journalism is really quite easy :) Gogo Rinoa, waiting to see you at the top :) | |
