Hey Miss-Rinoa & Miss-Sunie, thanks for giving up your time to do this interview.
Could you please tell us a little about yourselves outside of e-sports.
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
Hey hey my name is Neha! I am pretty much the definition of a busy bee. I'm a full time student in my second year of university studying Journalism. I also work part time like 35 hours a week at a clothing store. Aside that I love hanging out with friends and going out.
PMS^Miss-Sunie:
My name is Michelle, and I like to sleep and eat. It's pretty much what I do when I'm not playing DotA. I also like shopping, and reading. I am studying right now to be a writer, hopefully science fiction/romance.
Thanks for that girls!
How long have you both been playing dota for?
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
I've been playing DotA since it came out on RoC! I used to ladder on RoC and just played dota every now and then for fun...once I moved to frozen throne I fell in love with DotA and switched to it ever since. I would say 3 years or so? I'm not entirely sure.
PMS^Miss-Sunie:
I've only been playing for about two and a half years.
How did you discover DotA? Did you randomly join a pub?
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
Pretty much. I used to surf the custom game pub list every now and then and try out some. DotA got so addicting and it was always the most popular cg.
PMS^Miss-Sunie:
The university that I go to has a LAN room, and I went in one day. Everyone was playing DotA, so I couldn't help myself. I was able to get some random people to help me learn. :D I don't think I would have been able to join a random game, it would be too daunting.
Neha, to my understanding you've been quite involved in the DotA community.
Could you please point out some of the works you've done around the scene and community?
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
Well I managed to land DotA it's own section on the popular e-sports site GotFrag. I've also been apart of the forum crew on the Dota-Allstars forums. Recently I've been helping out the GG-community as well and they put me as a moderator. I pretty much float around everywhere haha...I put so much time into DotA because I really want it to succeed!
I’ve even helped out a couple of friends find sponsorships for their team. Even if it's not for me, I'll do anything for DotA!
How did the two of you meet?
PMS^Miss-Sunie:
Luck :D
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
Hahahaha. Well there was this other girl, Lynne, who was briefly on our team. I heard about her from other players and saw her in a couple of inhouse leagues so I invited her into my team. She requested that her friend (Michelle) joined too and I said sure. She gave me Michelle's msn and we've been talking ever since.
Honestly, even though things didn't work out with Lynne, it was a blessing to find out Michelle. Though she is the newest addition to our team, she has become like my best friend and my co-leader.
That was a really nice answer. What’s your reaction to that Michelle?
PMS^Miss-Sunie:
I love Neha, and it was really amazing to find a girl that has a lot of the same interests as me. It's really rare to find someone who loves playing video games and who also likes to go shopping (and talk about cute boys, hehe)! It was pretty much a dream come true to meet someone as awesome as her. I consider myself really lucky.
Glad to see the same feelings go both ways ^^
What do your friends and families think of your involvement in e-sports?
PMS^Miss-Rinoa:
OH GOD! hahaha. Indian parents = death. It has been a battle since day one to convince my parents that I'm not just "wasting my life away" in front of my screen. They always nag me about my studies and harass me about who I'm talking to on Ventrilo. Though... Once they saw my hard work with e-sports news and realized I was mostly playing with GIRLS, they warmed up to it:P
They were happy that it is giving me opportunities to travel...even rolling in some bucks ;)
But still.... This is something completely new to them and they still give me that lost confused face everytime I go on a happy rant to them about my gaming life hahaha.
With my friends....they think it's awesome and brag to their friends that play dota in their universities.
PMS^Miss-Sunie:
My family loves it, and since a majority of my friends also play… They love it too. Plus, my mother is Korean, and she used to tell me how you could watch people play Starcraft on TV. She thinks it’s cool, and kind of funny.
