Interview

Please introduce yourself briefly to our readers.
Hey, my name is Johan Klasson and im 19 years old. My former teams are SOB, Begrip and last one NiP.

What do you do in your sparetime? What are your hobbies? What does a normal day look like in your life?
Right now before an event it's just playing alot and get a good night sleep:) But usually its to wake up, get a nice breakfast. Then chill at home a bit. Later on i make something to eat or go downtown and eat something with my friends. And at night its cs at home, partying (at weekends) or just chill with some friends.

Do you have a girl friend?
Nope.

Why? Do you think it's linked with Counter-Strike and what she would think about it?
I dont know why, havent found anyone yet:D But i dont want a girl that hate cs or hate the thing that i do ofcourse.

What's the most positive thing about you?
The positive thing about me is that i want the others around me to have fun. So i often say or do some strange things even that i dont think about it:D

What's the most negative thing about you?
Nothing :)

What was the craziest thing you've ever done?
No idea.

How did you get into gaming and what made you play CS?
I started to play cs in my hometown in Borås, Sweden. But then i just played for fun, later on when i started my new school i noticed some more guys in my class played cs as well. Then we started to play together and go to different lans.

There are not many players like Johan on the cs scene, always bringing imbalanced rounds combined with a great ability to role a game singlehanded he was an obvious pick for my former roster in begrip. He is one of the most skillfull and devoted players that i have had the privelage to play and watch in-action, and im sure that he will be the frontman in a new era of MYM.

Did you realise the talent you had to play CS professionally from the beginning, or how long did it take you?
I didnt realise that i had the talent at first. I think i noticed it when i played with SOB (Skillz of Borås - me, xpozer, olauzzon, ninoze and flipper.), when we played on some smaller lans here in sweden.

There are many people wondering about your nickname. Can you tell us the story about how you got your nickname?
hehe sure. I didnt pick the nickname for cs at first. I chosed it as my nickname in Starcraft first that i played some years before cs. I got the nickname from the movie "face-off" becuase about 6 years ago i liked the movie alot. And when i started play cs it just came to me, that i could use that nickname in cs as well.

What about other games? Have you tried to play Counter-Stike: Source? If yes, what do you think about the game?
Yeah i have tried source, but i dont like it really, it's almost a whole new game to me.

Will you continue playing CS 1.6 or do you think ProMod could be a compromise? Do you think MYM made a good decision by adding a Counter-Strike: Source team?
I will stay on 1.6 as long as i can. ProMod for me is like scourse just with a few changes. Cant really say about the decision mym made with a source team, dont know much about it. Source is a nice game for the ones who likes it.

Johan seems very nice. Have met him in a couple other events. And the second time i met him he had to give me 5$ because i rocked his ass at aim_map :) Johan is also a very talented cs player and im looking forward to play with him in LA ! TJO JOHAN

How does Counter-Strike influence your life? Are you still working?
No, when I started in NiP CS was my work and still is :)

There is no doubt when a player is on such an high level like you are, you must spend a lot time in front of the computer and at LAN events/bootcamp. What does your family say about it? Are they okay with it?
At first (when i didnt get paid and didnt travel so much), they didnt like me spending so much time in front of the computer. But now when i live on it and travel alot and they know more about it, they are okay with it.

So is traveling another feature or opportunity you enjoy and does it motivate you?
I think traveling and compete at different tournament is the best part. I meet all the other players and also compete against them. It's just great.

What does your schedule look like on an major event like ESWC, NGL ONE Finals or a Dreamhack LAN event? Do you go sightseeing in the city / country or just settle down near the event location?
It'd different from time to time i think. Also has a little to do with the times we play. But if i and my team has time to go do or see somethink, i wont say no=)

How do you prepare yourself for events / matches?
I play alot:P I have to get a good warmup before i play, thats the most important part. All the tactics and such stuff do we all already know.

How does it feel to be a part of MYM; dealing with the devil?
haha it feels nice, havent been here for so long yet. But im hoping to stay.

Lately, when NiP was running well, you evolved and improved match by match and made yourself a key player in the team. Many people just followed your insane gameplay on HLTV, more or less they focused on the player named face the last weeks before the Swedish team disbanded. Did you recognize that you improved and shined as the new star in NiP?
Ofcourse i felt that i got better and better and that i got more attention by others. But all the players in NiP were good and still are. I developed very much in NiP and it was very fun to play there. Now i just want to learn more here in MYM and hopefully i will get even better.

During your carreer you played for teams such as Begrip and teams like the one named above, NiP. You will now represent MYM at events in the future. What was it like to play for such renowned gaming teams and what constellation you liked most of all? What are your goals with MYM and why did you decide to play for them?
I think it will be fun to play with a new team as MYM. My goals with MYM are that we're going to be better and better as the time goes. We have fun when we play, that and hard practice is the big key.

I chose MYM because i know they are a good team and also that right now it's hard to find a good swedish team. So this time i felt like this was something to go for.

Among others you attended events such as the ESWC 2007 in Paris, France some months ago. Which tournament was the most exciting and which was the one that stands out to you in your professional gaming career?
The biggest event for me is ESWC in Paris i think. It felt great to come to paris and play. But the event that i realised that im really in to proffessional gaming was SHG, Denmark with Begrip i think. We didnt play so long together before the event and we still played very good, that was very fun=)

Referring back to NiP: Why did the team disband?
We just had 4 players at the end and it was hard to find a good 5th player. Then the other players got better offers i guess.

Johan is an amazing counter-strike player and is without doubt one of the best aimers in Sweden. He's always calm and friendly but also dumb which brings many good laughters :). He brings his calm and friendly personality into the game along with his stupidity and is therefore able to turn any given situation in-game to his advantage.

Did you ever play alongside one of the guys that are in MYM's Counter-Strike division in a squad before MYM? How do you like their characters as well their gaming style?
I havent played with any of them in the same team before no. I've just talked to them on different events before, but i like them, they seem nice:D And i know they are very good players.

In one week you can be seen in Los Angeles, USA - the ESL Extreme Masters will take place in this amazing city for four days. MYM will compete against International top-teams like PGS, fnatic and many more. Who will be the toughest opponent? Where would you see MYM on the final placements and why?

I really dont know who will be the toughest opponent. All the teams who are there is really good. So i think it has much to do with who has the better day and who's allow themselves to play good. I think and hope that we're finnishing in the top!

Thanks for taking time to answer the questions. Good luck in MYM. Any last shoutouts?
Thanks, It will be nice to be working with everybody in MYM, hopefully i will stay for a while:) And thank you EnriqueC and Puma for our little chat:P
