As most of you people know at this time the WCG admins for Counter-Strike changed the decision that MYM.cs won fair and square. So maybe it´s time to explain the whole story and I´ll try to make it pretty short but it could also be a small book of what happened during this afternoon.
We started to play against the Korean team eSTRO this morning and it went very well for our guys and we won the game without any problems at all with the score 16-9 and 16-9. Everybody was happy and we´re in the quarter finals against emulate! from France. After around 20 minutes we heard that eSTRO filed a complaint against us for using "duck jumps" which aren´t allowed in World Cyber Games and eSTRO said that it was our new player KF3 that made it. KF3 went directly to me and explained that he´s actually the only one in MYM.cs that can´t even make "duck jumps" so it´s nothing to worry about.
Everything went well and eSTRO didn´t find anything at all. But they kept on watching the demo for our other players after that and they even installed wall hack to check all players in every angle. After nearly two hours, yes I´m actually telling you the truth they haven´t found anything illegal from MYM.cs and the guy above the head admin for Counter-Strike said in front of the press and TV that he´s made the final decision about the whole situation that have taken over two hours since the match was over.
(eSTRO while checking the demo with wallhack for a duck jump)
MYM.cs won the game and this is the final decision and it can´t be overruled he said and left. All the press went to the press area and told the world what happened. Mark "Mercy" came to me and told me that now everything is 110 % done and we´re in the quarter finals and the decision can´t be changed again.
Slightly after this decision a bunch of Korean persons with VIP and SP (Special Persons) arrived to the Counter-Strike area and confronted him. At this time more or less media from all over the world was present, all esport sites and TV stations and filming everything.
And after like 30 minutes from this when everyone was waiting for the game to start against emulate! the responsible guy for World Cyber Games, Counter-Strike arrives and says that there has been a change and that MYM.cs don´t win the game. He says he´s sorry and he has made a big mistake and he takes all the blame. What happened was that eSTRO after 2-3 hours found a suspicious duck jump from noLA in MYM.cs and they are shouting that this is actually duck jumping. The head referee decides that this is against the rules and should give a yellow card.
After a lot of discussion whether it is a duck jump or not the referee say that MYM.cs will lose the map and it´s 1-1 and a third map should be played. That the two suspicious duck jumps that actually wasn´t duck jumps according to a lot of proplayers and they even showed the admins that it wasn´t in game doesn´t matter. A third map should be played. Nor that they didn´t change anything in the results or even was near the other team was interesting.
MYM.cs at that time asked the referee if they are allowed to check the existing demo if eSTRO made any duck jumps them got the answer.
- Sure you can check the demo but if you don´t find anything you´ll disqualified.
It was pretty surprising for us that eSTRO get almost three hours to watch the demos for any broken rule made by MYM.cs but we get disqualified if we don´t find anything in it.
Why can you file a complaint against one player and you don´t find anything on him and after that use like two hours to hunt for things on the rest of the players and MYM.cs is not even allowed to watch the demo without risk for being disqualified?
(Five happy guys MYM.cs before all the problems arrived)
At this time our players was very sad and felt very disappointed and tired for waiting more than three hours. And they also felt betrayed as the highest responsible guy for the tournament said that MYM.cs win and this decision can´t be overruled. What really happened? How can he change a decision he made in front over all media from all over the world?
REAL from MYM.cs came to me with almost tears in the eyes and said to me that how can they do this to us. This is not even happening. REAL told that he was standing besides the Koreans and saw they signed the document there they accepted their loss against MYM.cs.
This was totally new for me and I ran to the head admin and asked him if this is correct. Have they signed the contract that they accept they lost the game? He answered me yes and I asked if they did why do we even have this problem if they accepted their loss? He was sipping for air for a moment and told me that they filed a complaint and after that signed the document that they agree that they lost the game.
Why do you sign a document there you agree that you lost the game when you want to file a complaint?
This and a lot of more things came up and it didn´t matter what anyone in the world said. It´s going to be a third map or we can pack our things and withdraw the game. No compromises and the decision stay.
We were given 15 min to decide if we wanted to play the third map or make a forfeit. Mark and I said that in our opinion we should pack our bags and leave because this is the most hilarious thing we have been seen since the birth of esport. But we understand if the players want to play the third map as it´s a lot of money on stake. After a discussion the team decided to play. I was heading to the admins to give our answer and was on my way back to the players when the head admin came to me and said - We are going to play de_dust2 as the third map.
The map that eSTRO beat both fnatic and mibr in the group play. For me it was more or less like a joke when he said it and I asked how dust2 was chosen. And I got the explanation that he draws the map by him. Not with any people or with the teams. As you all can understand we felt like this must be some kind of conspiracy or something because whatever we come up with they will do everything in favor for Korea. And of course when it´s Koreans that is responsible for the tournament and when all these things happened it actually feels like it. All the sites and all the people involved in this had the same opinion except the referees and the Koreans. The entire world was posting articles and news about it and it felt like the whole world against the Koreans.
Was all this right way to solve the problem? Was it done in the right way? Why are some people allowed to do as they please and others don´t. And I really feel with my players and also feel with fnatic that had a similar problem against eSTRO and couldn´t even file a complaint as they signed the document that actually eSTRO did against MYM.cs and accepted the loss.
It may not be a short story but I really tried to make it as short as possible.
Yours sincerely,
Daniel "Nostra" Thornell and the players in MYM.cs

its not the fault of estro, its the fault of the wcg and their strange rules.
Every team, including you, would have tried everything to get as far as possible. And on top of that, YOU broke the rules, so stop complaining about unfair treatment, dont break the rules and this situation wouldnt have occured. Just grow up and dont cry because of a computer game, nerds!

Nola did a duck jump so thats breakin the rules, quite easy hey? I mean you prepare for month on a tournament and you know you are not allowed to do it, but still you do duckjumps (in which form soever). How stupid is that?
And btw nice aftermatch statement by your pla I mean honestly he wishes 5 people death because of a losing computer game, wow this guy has some serious problems.

Couldn't DISagree more with you #2 :P
I think it's a really lame attempt to win a match where they clearly lost (16-9, 16-9 says it all)... And from what I've read from all the news sites is that there was like one suspicious "duck jump" which in fact wasn't one. If eSTRO thought someone was abusing this they should have said so during the match and not afterwards like they did. You can compare it to a football match, let's say one pla I guess it's not really the same but hopefully someone sees my point. The only reason they filed a complaint is because they wanted to win no matter what. I mean first they accused KF3 and when it was proven he didn't duck jump they just went to the next pla And your words "Just grow up and dont cry because of a computer game, nerds!" I agree that it's just a game but you also have to keep in mind that there's A LOT of money at stake, this isn't some random LAN hosted by your friend either... The funny part is that eSTRO earlier had been accused of duck jumping and also proven "guilty" (I think). This was just a cheap attempt from their side and I'm really glad they lost later on. Anyway I'm really sorry for the norwegians, this is the silliest thing I've heard in a CS tournament... Much more could be said about this but it's time for bed now :)

#8 I agree with you ;p that it wasnt great sportsmanship but still every team would have done the same, even fnatic tried to turn the draw against mibr in a win by accusing them of duck jumping. So stop this hate against estro, its just ridiculous :o

Yes indeed fnatic tried to pull something like this but I really don't know much about that though I even heard from "ins" in an interview that he said that it would be a lame way to win.
However, the lack of sportmanship of others does not justify an action like this from eSTRO.

it doesnt justify it but it show that all the teams acted the same way, and like you mentioned earlier its all about the mny! So you cant blame ANY team for trying everything.

Wow deony you must be truly retarded, spending 3 hours after a game trying to find some reason to get a game off MYM, only to find 1 piece of evidence which wasn't actually duck jumping. The admins also worked to make sure this happened, which is blatant corruption.
Maybe you're just pissed off because america is shit at CS i dunno :\ Let me repeat, MYM DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG, because you seem to be repeating that any team would do that but the fact was mym didn't even do what they were accused of. Last edited by declan69 at 08.10.2007, 03:01

Seriously.. it's ok to disagree with the admins' decisions and what has happened, but to hate on all Asians (wNv in the past and now eSTRO) because of this is ridiculous. Just argue without insulting someone will make yourself look less moronic. I'm not taking mYm's or eSTRO's side since I haven't seen the demo or watched the live match.

i agree with #18, reading the other news post i was quite disgusted by the racism in alot of ppl's comments which i find unexpected as pretty much the whole of the war3 squad is korean...
i'd like to hear another side to this story but currently it reeli seems to me as tho mym got cheated :S
|
Yeah it's just that it's always the asians cheating, whether it be in game tournaments or even school/university exams. I don't see how it's racist when it's 100% true. It doesn't mean that all Asians do it, it's just that there's a high chance that a cheating team/individual will be Asian.

Quoting qwfahkklrearth: The most unsportsmanlike thing in this years world cyber games is getting ruled out by admins and the organization for doing something every single team did in every single match in the groupstage. Sure it's sportsmanship to take away the whole map instead of taking their own rules seriously and just take away the single rounds. Because of TWO duck-jumps... ofc it's really sportsmanlike to let the opponent have a look at the demos for about 3 hours to find something irregular and when you request a look at the demos, you get threatened with disqualification for doing so. Sure it's very fair to do a drawing, which no one can prove ever happend. Also it's ok to let one team protest (even after the reports are signed) and another team doesn't get the chance to do so. I don't approve what KF3 said. But it was the most human reaction, considering what farce they were facing in WCG07. - MYM FIGHTING -

people like deony are ridiculous. of course estro is to blame, they searched for several hours to find a duckjump and didnt even find one. so now tell me if this is normal, why didnt all the other teams that lost did this kind of behaviour. i mean they even used wallhack and didnt find something, which makes it even more retarded.
i feel very sorry for the mym.cs team, as they really did a good job and lost against a corrupt organisation. oh and of course kf3's reaction was not ok, but seriously i can understand them, they put so much effort in this and everything is destroyed by some asian kids who cant loose. estro should be lucky that they just got insulted and not smashed in their faces...oh and that "gg" by one of the estro-pla luckily emulate whooped their asses afterwards

Now you blamed the admins (persons in charge) for being unsportmanlike and for not being consistent, in which i fully agree. But this is not an exculpation for the behavior of kf3 against eSTRO. He should have charged the admins for their inability. #25 The organisation should have inhibited eSTRO from their attitude. Especially, when they have already signed the contract, which contains the acceptance of their loss. Last edited by qwfahkklrearth at 08.10.2007, 16:19

omg #25, first of all all the other teams did the same, in nearly every game there was a protest. And even more important its there good right to do check all the demos etc (its no sportsmanship I agree) but you cant blame them for doing so.

so #29..tell me one team that did the same as estro (searching for 3 hours without finding anything and still whining on afterwards) ...i love those guys talking without any clue of what happenend....of course there were several teams that made a protest, but those teams had real evidence, while estro didnt..on top of that those other teams simply accepted it when their protest was dismissed.
