Where do you want to expand next?
Next in line are some European countries. We already cover most of Europe with the European Nations Championship and the Extreme Masters, but we now want to bring the full power of our national leagues (ladders, ESL Amateur Series, ESL Pro Series) to those countries, provided that we find a suitable national partner, that can support us in our endeavors.
Are you planning to become the biggest online league for gaming on a global scale or are you satisfied with your status in Europe?
Comparing world-wide figures, ESL is already the biggest league. What we are still missing is a foothold in other territories. But we recently made the step to China, with a large-scale cooperation with government-backed Pro Gamer League (PGL).
Do you plan on having more editions of the Pro Series in other countries?
Of course we want to spread the ESL Pro Series as far as possible, but the framework has to be right. So we are not gonna rush things but build on a slow but steady expansion of the ESL Pro Series. Just this year we started the first ESL Pro Series season in Spain, that finished quite successfully in May.
Are you planning on getting prize money for the online league aside from the EAS?
We already offer prize money for other leagues. We started the International Premiership Series with more than 10,000 euro in prize money. This league is to undergo another transformation soon, expanding the spectrum, but it's still to early to go public with that. Suffice to say, that German and European players from all kinds of games are going to be happy with our new league format.
Are you working to set up a better show than the intel Friday Night Games?
Looking at the success we are having, there seems little need for improvement, but of course we are always working on the small details as is our broadcast partner GIGA.
Will there be an Extreme Masters event outside Europe in the near future?
The future of the Extreme Masters will soon be revealed.
Are there any more offline events that will be coming in the near future besides the iFNGs, EPS Finals and WC3L?
Well you forgot the biggest of all, the Games Convention including the European Nations Championship and one soon to be announced new tournament. Check out the ESL press conference at the ESL Pro Series Finals this weekend.
