Established ten years ago - more than 680.000 registered players - 300.000 teams and around 150.000 matches are played per month. Just one league can be described in that way, of course we are talking about the Electronic Sport League, better known in it's shortform, the ESL.
Beside the ESL's online leagues, they also feature offline events like the ESL Pro Series with it's final event that will be held this weekend. As this is the tenth EPS season the prize purse also grown; this time the total ammount of prize money is set to 165.000 € (Euros).
Weekly offline events like the Intel Friday Night Games (iFNG) that brings the professional eSport directly to you, attract on average, 1.300 spectators. Each iFNG will change it's location week by week to reach every part of the German eSport community.
This EPS Final weekend, more than 120.000 spectators are expected. All in all an event at that size creates a data traffic of more than 15 terrabytes.
On the next page you will find some questions concerning the ESL that expose the league in general but also on it's future. Interviewpartner was
David Hiltscher who is one of ESL's PR manager.
