The GameGune 2007

How are preparations going at the moment?

Everything is running fine at the moment, we are on time :) thanks to the great work of the team.

So what can we expect at this year's event? Is there anything that you think will be particularly exciting?

You can expect this event to improve as a show. I can not tell that much now, but you can expect the event to be recorded by cameras, a stage with 2 huge screens,... It will be a nice event to watch live.

Can we expect to see something new at this years GameGune event?

Definitely. After 5 editions featuring only Counter-Strike we will organize a Warcraft 3 1on1 Tournament with a nice prizepurse. Moreover, we are going to host a Counter-Strike All-Star, which will consist of 2 teams made up from the players of the regular tournament that have received most votes. I am very glad to see the interest the community has in this All-Star.

Do events such as the WCG, ESWC, CPL inspire you to make something special? Have you learnd something from these other competitions?

Of course. I think the most important part of my job is watching other events in order to learn from them. ESWC is really the major tournament each tournament can learn from and that is why I will spectate ESWC 2007 this year to improve my own event. A special competition will be held, although it wasn't inspired in any of those tournament, I will go back to that point later in this interview.

What is your opinion regarding the subject of Counter-Strike 1.6 vs. Counter-Strike Source?

1.6 is definitely dominating in Europe while Source is in the USA. The CGS might change something in Europe. I believe Source has only improved 1.6 with better graphics and a much more realistic "flashing system" while 1.6 has more jugability in my opinion. You can also run 1.6 in nearly each computer while Source has some more requirements.

Has the attention from the Spanish/local media changed towards GameGune over the past few years?

Yes. The attendance of mass media increases yearly. Not only newspapers, but also TV and radio channels. We will even have a spot in a spanish channel this year!

What part of GameGune is the most important when it comes to profit? Is it the spectators, sponsors or a combination of the two?

It is a combination of both, but sponsors represent the biggest part of our income.

How do you think future GameGune will develop?

We will try to improve the qualifying system for the upcomming years and the prize purse will hopefully be increased yearly. We will also give our best to make a real show out of the tournament

Is it possible for GameGune get too big, or is bigger truely better?

I don't imagine this getting to big :) Bigger would truly be better at the moment.

Thanks for your time, do you have anything to add?

First I would like to thank meet your makers for the interest you have shown in our tournament and for your support. I would also like to mention my whole organizing team: zoR, NoFx, yopi, Neider, hura, Zvmalde, Dunedain and Sessions; You are doing a great job, keep it up. Nevertheless I would like to congratulate Rocio, Irene, Ana, Lisa and Ana for their great performance at the ESWC Spain ( great players, better persons).
