How does it feel to be a lady in a male dominated sport? I like females.
I like the challenge, but sometimes it feels like people don't take us serious enough. I count on one day to be competing side to side with the best male teams.
What do you say about competing with the men in the future? How long will it take for females to get as good as men, do you think it’s possible?
It’s impossible to tell. I think that as long as there is such a huge number of men playing compared to woman, it will be really hard. The females who start playing computer games most of the times start a lot later than men, so when men already now ho to work the computers and the games, the woman have to start from scratch most of the times. But besides all my whine I am confident that one day we will be competing in the big male tournaments. If not me and my team, then hopefully some other female team.
How do you feel about the female scene? I don’t think it is as popular as it deserves to be honest, I don’t see many female teams or players in the headlines much.
I like the female scene; I think that it is great that it is getting more and more exposure. I don't have a problem with female teams not getting that many headlines. Because when a team deserves it I am sure they will get one.
If you could have anything changed in the scene, what would you do?
That there would have been as many women playing as there is men from the start.
There are a few female tournaments, such as ESWC, which your team was invited too, what do you have to say about these, and what could they improve on?
Well, I just like that is competitions like this for the female. I don't really know what they could improve, seeing as I haven’t been to an event like ESWC before
Have you noticed any changes in the eight months you’ve been playing counter-strike?
There has happened a lot, but nothing that I have been a part of
Why do you think females are criticized so much? I like females.
I don't know, it is the same in pretty much all sports.
What do you have to say to those losers that say “Who cares about female gaming” or “They are just meant to look good not play games.” I think they are just retards, and that men and woman are equal even though the word wo-man comes from man. That seems sexist to me, what do you have to say?
That’s their opinion. Doesn't really matter anything to me.
Why do you think people ignore female gaming when it’s been around for five years?
It all narrows down to the same thing, as I said before. It is the same thing with every sport. Why should this sport be different?
Honestly I don’t understand this, on MYM the Ladies team was the most viewed profiles for a while. They got tons of hits and comment; I commented them myself… a lot. I think it’s so interesting. Les Sueles is a great example, when there is news about them, they attract lots of attention. One team even had a reality TV Show off of a female Counter-Strike team too.
Well of course they get a lot of attention because they are females in a male dominated scene. And there is nothing new about females getting a lot of attention over the Internet. I think that it is great to see that Le Sueles had their own TV-Show made.

btw you contradict Urselve;
"Why do you think people ignore female gaming when it’s been around for five years? on MYM the Ladies team was the most viewed profiles for a while. When in sweden alone there may be about 50 teams that can beat them, they get pretty much as much as attention as the top3 swe male clans. if you mean being ignored because there isn't much female only tournaments, I think having a world cup (eswc) seperate for male and female is enough, its fun aswell to have all other lan events with both male and female competing against each other and perhaps even mixing together. 1 more point of critisism, I dont think an mym writer should say something like: "I think they are just retards" Your representing one of the biggest e-sports communities, try think aboutthat before hitting on girls by using rough talk ;) Last edited by liQuidmoTion at 23.05.2007, 11:50

I meant female gaming as a whole, not a single team that gains popularity like Les Sueles. Female game has not been respected, the reason that they have gained a reality show is because they are females in a male dominated scene. The reason they got hits and comments is because they are pretty and as I said, females surrounded by men. People still ignore female gaming, tournament wise. One tournament, ESWC, is clearly not enough. Well, being a writer, I can say what I please as it is my opinion. I've defended many female teams when, immature and ignorant boys talk against them. Please don't try to make me look like a fool by saying that I am hitting on "girls" when rather it seems that you are trying to.
Cheers, Bijan | |
