How much life do you think 1.6 has left now that the CGS has been announced? Do you expect teams to start hopping over to Source quickly or will it be a long drawn out change over?
I can't really say, but I'd guess that this year might be the last for 1.6. I dont expect teams to start hopping over all the time but I think that source will draw more and more attention this year and hopefully it can fully take over.
What are your general thoughts concerning the CGS and electronic sports in general. It's already appearing to have an impact on CSS but do you think it will have an effect on esports and it's acceptance by the mainstream?
It surely does make the whole eSports industry look more and more professional, and I think that it, some time given though, will hop into the mainstream as a 21th century sports trade. That being said, the eSports are constantly opening for the
masses. Like in Germany, for example, I think there's already a fully organized TV-Channel to provide you with the eSports.
Counter-Strike: Source was one of the competition games at the World Cyber Games in 2005. If you remember back, Team 3D won that event over a team from Kazakstan, which was a shock to me. Is the Counter-Strike: Source scene dominated by the nations as 1.6 (Sweden, Germany,, USA and others) or is it a more even battlefield?
Currently the top clans of Europe are German + Scandinavian & Finnish teams, so I'd say that its quite the same as in 1.6. Surprisingly, theres only one top clan from the mighty CS country Sweden, but I bet that CSS will become more popular there too after awhile, so the lovely vG chaps can get some challenge in national tournaments!
