How does it feel to earn your money with gaming? And when was the first time you did?
Wow, the first time I earn my first pennies must have been a local LAN in Poland, in a really small town, which name would only cause wry looks to the readers. I was really happy winning my first money. Yet, I didn't consider prize-money to be a serious part of my income. It was more an addition to the victory, nothing to be really fond of. The first serious international paycheck was 10.000$ we won at the Invex Cup in the Czech Republic in 2004, where we beat Dsky and a-Losers in the finals, which were playing with fleks, kapio and our Polish friend DonKamilo.
Winning cash at a Polish event was rare, so that 1.000$ in total was already a magic, pleasing and attractive purse, especially for a Polish gaming team.
What is your daily routine in an average day (Gaming and Non-Gaming?)
My non-gaming day usually kicks off with school, which I do attend on Fridays and Saturdays usually. That would force me to get up at half past six, have some nice but small breakfast, maybe a Red Bull to widen my eyes (:p), and after I get ready I leave for studies. Having done that part of the day, I would come back, have some lunch, check the latest news in and outside of the gaming world, finish the daily obligations we have to the team, and then meet my girl or some other friends to just have a good time, go shopping, or just relax, while listening to music, watching TV and eating Sushi e.g. Parties are welcome as well!
The gaming day might be really different. Let it be Sunday, where I get up at around 12am. The usual procedure of breakfast etc., obligations, telephone calls here and there, shopping, tidying the room, to then meet up wit the team at 5pm. After some small talk and nice stories everybody experienced at the weekend, we would either invent or analyze some of our strategies, or start playing practices right away. Game after game, time would pass by, making the clock ring the alarm at 11pm. Sunday is by far the day we practice most, henceforth we try to use the chance of improving as good as possible. Having finished the practical side, I would continue playing on some death match, aim maps or a gather, if I didn't find any other solution for Sunday evening, which might be going downtown or meeting my girlfriend. I must admit, I barely read books...
What are your future plans besides gaming?
I would really like to stay in the industry. Gaming is developing, growing instantly with every second passing by. Even though, there are still a lot of obstacles to overcome, and we haven't yet arrived, where we all would love gaming to be already, I see chances of making it happen in the next few years. I love playing games, testing new ones, if PC or console, anything can be really fun. Furthermore, I do know how things work in games, I have a sense of what might be the coming game, people will play, and together with the experience I gathered over the years and the enthusiasm, a job in the gaming industry would be interesting. I am also interested in psychology and some other fields. Time will tell which route will be mine.
So there is a Mrs. LUq?
As mentioned before, there is a certain Mrs. LUq. Her name is Magda, and she is really my personal star. She is just about to graduate, and for some time now, she has been working in the marketing department of the Metro Group. She is the exact counter-part, I believe I needed. She helps me really a lot, supports me in any possible way, and I am more than glad to have her. Love you, honey!
