- How can you describe the e-sports scene in Turkey, is it on high or low level ?
DP|xylm: - Unfortunately, it is currently on a low level. In Turkey the sponsors don't see the bright future of esports and because of this there is not the necessary support for professional gaming. Because of this situation the clans can't really performe at all. Also our bad internet connections makes our job harder because we can't train with foreign teams if we have big pings... Despite all these problems we want to show that esport in Turkey is like in other big esport nations, we are not worse than them but we don't have the same conditions.
- But isn't e-sports in your country is growing fast? You do have qualifiers for big events like the WCG, KODE5. And you do have ESL?
DP|xylm: - Hmm that`s a good question... Lets begin with the ESL. 'seLo', our manager, is the national Head for Turkey, he and some friends of us operate the league. Two months ago they tried to improve the Internet Games within gamers in turkey, their aim was to create a league where everybody can do official matches, but the problem in turkey is that not everybody owns an original game. For example, a very little ammount of players do not have steam accounts.
Our manager 'seLo' and his ESL Team, plan an Internet Cup with 32 teams where they take some money of the teams and each gamer will get an Steam account, and will take part at our tournament with his team. The effect is that everybody will have a steam account and all the teams will have the chance for a first prize which would be some euros. Perhaps 300-400 euros. So after a big brainstorming they thought that it would be the best solution for players in Turkey would get orginal games. They plan the same for other games... but I think there would be news at their webpage.
Yes to the WCG Situation, since 2002 we have a WCG slot. The company of Siberlig organizes it yearly, but this season they only sent gamers for Warcraft III, Counter-Strike, FIFA, LFS and Star Craft.
But there is also another thing I would like to mention. How we heard that this year there would be the Worldgamemasters in Turkey, and around the 3-th of november there will be the finals and with nice prizes. But we don't really know how its going to work out in the end, but 8 teams from Turkey can qualify themselves for the finals, and we also heard that foreign teams will come to Turkey. The cup is organized by 'Asus' and 'Siberlig' helps them with admins and referees.
I hope that the KODE5 Main Admins from Taiwan/China will find a solution perhaps they could make the Season2 Finals in Turkey or bring us to the 2. season :> that would be great.
- Thank you for your time, DP|xylm, any last words ?
DP|xylm: - Thanks for the interview, I am very confident that we can show the same success at the international stage like in Turkey for WCG or KODE5. Also I would like to say thanks to all my mates from DarkPassage and our managers Özgür 'OG' Gülmez, Selçuk 'seLo' Ibikli, Erol 'aramis' Bulut, all our sponsors and also the KODE5 Warcraft III winner, Bu.Hero, who also was cheated by the KODE5 organisation.Page :
