On the Edge of Greatness

So Close, Yet So Far

Everyone knows the great teams and players of WC3: Meet Your Makers, SK Gaming, World Elite, to name a few. These teams will almost always be near the top because of their players consistent performance and the financial backing and support from organizers. But what about those who are close, but not quite there?

There is a well of talent in wc3 that doesn't have quite the avenue to realize their true potential...

There is a well of talent in wc3 that doesn't have quite the avenue to realize their true potential. We've seen players such as Elfi and Yane leave teams for better opportunity to display their skills, but what about the teams they leave behind, who are always on the cusp of great achievement, but can't quite get there?

To find out about these teams, I've asked a few players and managers what keeps the semi-pros from catching up to the true professionals, and what continues to motivate them to compete with the world's best teams.

The WC3L finals and qualifiers are now both over, and we have a clear picture of who will be competing in Season 14.

* Internationa- Meet Your Makers (Champion)
* Germany Mousesports (Runner-Up)
* Internationa- SK Gaming (3rd)
* China World Elite (4th)
* Germany Alternate Attax
* Korea, South Fnatic
* Germany Raptor Gaming
* Ukraine NoWayOut International
* Russian Fede- Gravitas Gaming (Qualifier, 1st Season in WC3L)
* China Wisdom Nerve Victory (Qualifier, 3rd Season in WC3L)
* Germany mTw.AMD (Qualifier, 7th Season in WC3L)
* Germany nGize.FSP (Former PGS, Qualifier, 8th Season in WC3L)

Raptor and nWo replace BET and BVG.

Most would agree that the teams in the WC3L are the best in the world, few would argue this fact, but what is often forgotten is the NGL and how there isn't actually as much crossover between the 2 leagues as you'd like to think.

Fix @ page 2
...and more strange, only 3 other teams were in the WC3L qualifiers. Basically, 3 teams in NGL-Two didn't even get into WC3L qualifiers.
