Football tonight! Netherlands vs Russia!

Anyone here follow the UEFA Euro Cup? Yesterday's match - Croatia Croatia vs Turkey Turkey - was so interesting! Actually the first 90% of the match was very boring. I enjoyed the last 10% of the match where we actually got to see goals and penalty shoot-outs! Croatia was the hot favourite to win, but Turkey won the game instead. In the 30 mins overtime, Croatia was the first to score somewhere near the last 10 minutes, so the score was Croatia 1-0 Turkey. Then Turkey did their famous "goal in last minute". Many may think Turkey was lucky, but they did perform better in the penalty shoot-out in the end.

There are many Turkish people living in the Netherlands and we live in the city, so after the match it was so noisy outside. Cars were honking so loudly in celebration of their victory. Congratulations Turkey!

Tonight's game - Netherlands vs Russia Russian Fede- ! Netherlands is of course the hot favourites to win, but could there be an upset? After all, Russia improved alot with the help of Hiddink, a famous Dutch coach who also led South Korea go very far in World Cup. South Korea was in 5 straight World Cups and didn't win a single match yet. But since Hiddink became their coach, they improved alot and even got 4th place in the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Under Hiddink's coaching, Russia apparently made alot of improvements too. Dutch coach - Guus Hiddink's name is becoming bigger by the day. Will he lead Russia to defeat his own country? Will Russia be good enough to defeat The Netherlands?

Netherlands Khalid Boulahrouz

Dutch player Boulahrouz suffered a tragedy a few days back. He flew back to Netherlands because his wife gave birth to a premature baby - 4 months early. Unfortunately the baby didn't survive. But Boulahrouz said he's ready for the match against Russia, so we will be watching him play tonight! Baby in heaven will pray for him.

So.. 8.45 PM CET!! Let's get some snacks and beer and camp in front of the TV!

During PGL, HoT got drunk, fell down and hurt his hand and foot. In the end he had to call for ambulance to bring him to the hospital. But he's still smile happily! :D

In the shower in the hotel, there was a sign. In mandarin it says "Be careful of slippery floor".

In english it says "Be careful of landslide!!" omg.. :p :D

Sad that Croatia lost against Turkey ;(.... so , what can i say about Russia vs Netherlands match? Yes.. I like to watch football, but only during big leagues like Euro Cup or World Cup.

Wow.. nice match! I bet €5 on Russia win Netherlands 2-1 but the score ended on 3-1. Exciting match anyway. Russia really improved a lot. Perhaps it's not a coincidence that whichever team that Dutch coach Hiddink coaches, they improve and go far into the leagues. Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live.

I'm sorry for Netherlands, they are really dissapointed, and I think they shouldn't be angry on Hiddink, he is not a traitor, he is just the BEST COACH in the world who loves his job. It's victory of Russian football team, but it also victory of the Holland coach, so you should be proud too. I wouldn'be vary suprised if Hiddink will lead some african or indonesian team to championship finals :D

Also, you should understand how it was important for russians. You know, here, in Russia we are used to think of Russian football team as the losers, cuz they dissapointed us for 20 years. Many jokes were born about it. Russian football was as bad as russiamade cars, so it is very important for Russia.

P.S. With Hiddink Russia played holland football a little bit better then hollands (also a little bit lucky). So Netherlands are not very good in Holland Mirror :D:D Like Moon and Grubby are not very good in their races mirrors :)

Well, Hiddink said that "If I'm a traitor, then let me be traitor of the year". He's not worried. It's his job, and he did his job well. I like both Netherlands and Russia team. I am happy either way. :) Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live.

You mean polish team? They are not so good? I don't know sorry. I think our team was not bad in absoltue but in context of glory of USSR sport you know it was just awfull. We had good players but as the team they were poor. Hiddink could fint the way to connect them. Also dutch football is very good :)

we also had a dutch coach, and he managed to take our team for the 1st time at euro finals :D (we beat portugal in quali)
but than the players played so bad...didnt win even 1 game :(

i m lucky that the germans are still in tournament. but a final vs the netherlands would have been caused a really great atmosphere. :D i think it is good for NL that m.v.basten is not anymore the coach the team. he was a good player, but i think he isn´t a vey good coach yet.

GG Russia. I think that Russia deserved that win. For Netherlands the team who defeated Italy (2006 world champion),France (2006 WC runner-up) and Romania with their B team in their group they were really disappointing this game. They were out-played, out-classed, out-matched till the point that they are out of the Euro Cup. The worst part is that I had to sit today in at a Bar with all the angry Dutchman. I was scared that all will break lose when Nederlands win. They were swearing a lot LOL. I do hope Russia can keep playing like this, their next game vs winner Italy vs Spain. Hahaha lol at HOT. ouch, poor show by Holland after such a promising group stage. Was a good match though, last night's Croatia/Turkey was ok but only got going near the end.
